Nearly 300 more residentsparticipated in one or more <strong>of</strong> f<strong>our</strong> Community Values PublicForums. A widening gap between revenues and expenditureshighlighted the need to take a new approach to the budgetprocess. Although the <strong>City</strong> implemented cost-cutting measureslast year, including employee furloughs and other concessions,the <strong>City</strong> Council will have to consider further reductions inexpenditures to avoid future shortfalls. The <strong>City</strong> Council willuse the information culled from the survey and forums as theybegin to formulate a performance-based budget that reflectsthe community’s values and priorities.Results <strong>of</strong> the community survey are available online atwww.dalycity.org.
