FOREWORDOn behalf of the <strong>AFL</strong>, I presentto you the <strong>Swisse</strong> <strong>Quality</strong> <strong>Club</strong> <strong>Program</strong>and congratulate your club and leaguefor providing a quality environment forall people associated with the gameFootball administrators at all levels mustseek to ensure a quality environmentexists. We are confident that thoseinvolved across all States and Territoriesare passionate about Australian Footballand want to ensure that it is in greatshape now and for generations to come.As a result, the <strong>Swisse</strong> <strong>Quality</strong> <strong>Club</strong><strong>Program</strong> was developed in the interestsof assisting community football clubsimprove their operations and localenvironment.The <strong>AFL</strong> is conscious that in manycases, the workload required of localvolunteers is high and that help isneeded to run a club as professionallyas possible. BACKGROUNDTHE SWISSE QUALITY CLUB CONCEPTThe <strong>AFL</strong> has a responsibility to grow ourgreat game across the entire nation. It iswidely acknowledged that communityfootball clubs and leagues are thefoundation of Australian football, andthat the future growth of the game willdepend on the strength and viability ofcommunity football. With this in mind,we are striving to assist communityfootball clubs to enhance theiroperations for the bettermentof football.The concept of the <strong>Swisse</strong> <strong>Quality</strong> <strong>Club</strong><strong>Program</strong> is to provide an opportunityfor all community football clubs toachieve a minimum standard of clubadministration and to recognise andreward clubs for achieving the basestandard through to standards ofexcellence. Keeping this in mind, theprogram is designed to assist clubvolunteers meet minimum acceptablestandards as easily as possible. It isanticipated that every communityfootball club throughout the nation willalready be implementing the practicesdetailed in this program to achieveBronze level and that Silver and Goldlevels become a target in the future<strong>Club</strong>s will have the opportunityto achieve the following levels:BronzeA level to recognisegood clubadministration.SilverA level to recogniseexcellent clubadministration.GoldA level to recogniseexceptional clubadministration.A community leader!4 SWISSE QUALITY CLUB PROGRAM


BENEFITS TO CLUBSCreating a quality environment at yourfootball club will be of enormous benefitto your club as a whole and all of yourmembers. Some of the benefits of beinginvolved with this program include:• Providing an atmosphere that willhelp to attract new participants,officials and members (and retainthose you already have);• Providing an environment that willbe attractive to sponsors and helpyour club promote itself amongst thecommunity and particularly to yourlocal Council;• Minimising many risks associatedwith running a sporting club;• Creating a best practice guide foryour current Committee and allfuture Committees; and• Participating in a sport that cancontinue to promote itself asa leading sport where quality isvalued highly.Ultimately, the benefit of beinginvolved in this program is tocreate a better club!SWISSE QUALITY CLUB PROGRAM 5


THE PROGRAM EXPLAINEDRECOGNITION & INCENTIVE AWARDSThe <strong>Swisse</strong> <strong>Quality</strong> <strong>Club</strong> <strong>Program</strong> will consist of recognition and incentive awardsfor clubs as they achieve the 3 levels in this program.Bronze LevelOnce a club achieves theBronze level, the club will receivethe following:• A Certificate of Achievement;• A sticker for display at theclubrooms, depicting theBronze level;• A jpeg file of the Bronze levelto be used by the club forpromotional purposes onclub letterheads etc.Re-accreditation must besought after 3 yearsSilver LevelOnce a club achieves the Silverlevel, the club will receivethe following:• A Certificate of Achievement;• A sticker for display at theclubrooms, depicting theSilver level;• A jpeg file of the Silver level tobe used by the club forpromotional purposes on clubletterheads etc.; andGold LevelOnce a club achieves the Goldlevel, the club will receivethe following:• A Certificate of Achievement;• A sticker for display at theclubrooms, depicting theGold level;• A jpeg file of the Gold levelto be used by the club forpromotional purposes on clubletterheads etc.;• Receive a Training Resourcepack (valued at $1,500). Thepacks will consist of trainingfootballs and training gear• Entry into a weekly draw towin a Football pack (valued at$500). The packs will consist oftraining footballs with a draw tobe held on the Monday of eachround of the <strong>AFL</strong> Season.Only silver level clubsare eligible.• Ticketing offerRe-accreditation must besought after after 3 yearsdeliverable within a month ofobtaining the Gold Standard.• Priority access to the <strong>AFL</strong><strong>Community</strong> Ticketing program• Priority access to <strong>AFL</strong> GridGames during the Toyota <strong>AFL</strong>Finals series (junior only)• 2 places in the annual <strong>AFL</strong>National Coaching Conference(registration only)• Priority access to an <strong>AFL</strong>coach through the <strong>AFL</strong> Coachappearance programRe-accreditation must besought after 3 years6 SWISSE QUALITY CLUB PROGRAM


PROCESSThe <strong>AFL</strong>’s state office or affiliate body will be responsible for the coordinationof the <strong>Swisse</strong> <strong>Quality</strong> <strong>Club</strong> <strong>Program</strong>. The process will be as follows:<strong>Club</strong>s can submit a Bronze level assessment form viawww.aflcommunity.com.au Additional assessment forms complete withsupporting documentation and assessment forms that relate to the level ofapplication can be obtained from this site also or the relevant state office.<strong>Club</strong>s can only achieve the Silver level once they have successfully achieved theBronze level. <strong>Club</strong>s can only achieve the Gold level once they have successfullyachieved the Bronze and Silver levels. Please note that clubs can apply for morethan one level at the same time (ie. A club can apply for Bronze, Silver and Goldin the one submission by submitting the Assessment forms for all three levels).The relevant state body will check the Assessment form for compliance. Shouldcompliance be achieved, the club will be issued with the recognition awardsfor the relevant level. The club will also be entered into the monthly draw forthe relevant level.
