Facilities include a main roadcircuit with features such as traffic lights, stop signs, roundabouts, a sun safe play area and skills course.The Centre has recently redesigned and restructured all educational activities. The program now encompassesone bicycle per student at all times, resulting in more riding time and bicycle activities. The fresh new practicalprogram has over 50% of riding time, with 75% of the program spent outdoors.Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 10am - 2pm. Bookings essential.Disabled access and facilities: Yes.Bus parking: Yes.Maximum group size: 50 students.Details on tours and workshops: The workshop programs offered at the Bicycle and Road Safety EducationCentre are designed to educate students in safe road behaviour and bicycle skills appropriate to the students ageand ability. Topics include bicycle skills; pedestrian, road and passenger safety; awareness of hazards; or anyrequested road safety issues.Syllabus Links: Primary - PDHPE.Secondary - PDHPE.Recommended duration of visit: Up to four hours.Student requirements: Bicycles and helmets are provided. Children are to wear appropriate clothing andfootwear - such as shorts and enclosed sports shoes (no skirts or thongs). Long hair must be tied back.Our Safe Driving for <strong>School</strong>s Excursion has been approved by the Department of Education and Training. Fastlaneprovides students with the opportunity to experience being in control of a real moving vehicle, learn valuabledriving skills and respect for safety within a secure environment. Learning to handle a real moving vehicle on achallenging course means reactive driving skills will become second nature.Often karting is the only opportunity children have to handle a vehicle before they obtain their driver’s licenseand start out on the open road. Practice at Fastlane Karting means kids can learn real life defensive drivingskills on more challenging conditions than found with typical pre-license driving lessons. During this time, theylearn how to manoeuvre the vehicle out of tricky situations, develop improved hand-eye-pedal coordination inchallenging conditions and are taught to have strict respect for motor vehicles.
