Before you do this…you needto showand tellMost customers know nothing about cars. Butthe less they know the more worried they canget about repairs and their costs. If you keep them in the dark, you will lose their trust, and you couldlose them as a customer. Nothing breeds distrust of a workshopmore than silence, or poor communication. Loyalty comes withconversation.Workshops can start winning back customer trust by talking themthrough the repair process so that they feel they have a level ofcontrol over the situation. The way you communicate to your customer is equally as importantas the actual repair work done on their car. You may well be ableto fix a complicated issue on a vehicle but if you fail to keep thecustomer informed on the progress of the repair, it’s very likely thatthey will drive away unhappy with their experience. And if you don’ttell your customers about all the work you have done on their car,how will they ever know how good you are at your profession.Good communication is simple It’s about keepingyour customers in the loop. Never assume that your customersknow what you are doing or what is really wrong with their car.Everything needs to be explained very clearlyAs a general rule if the customer starts calling your workshopto find out what’s going on with their car repair, it’s a sign thatthey are getting frustrated. It might already be too late to savethat customer. The reason they call the workshop is that they areuncertain about something, and that means you have failed in yourcommunication.Uncertainty or lack of understanding is acause of mistrust Good communication begins themoment the car is driven into the workshop and should continueright through the repair process. When the car is ready to be pickedup, there should be no misunderstandings about the size of theinvoice and the customer should know, to the last nut and bolt, what has been done to their vehicle. So here’s the challenge… In the next four weeks, giveyourself a target to develop your communication skills to restoreyour customer’s trust in your workshop. The place to start is:www.tatbiz.net.au/capricornJust go for it!Training forbetter businesswww.tatbiz.net.au/capricornCapricorn ClassifiedsClassifieds Advertising GuidelinesDo you have a business for sale, equipment that you need to get rid of, or are you just looking for a part that you haven’t beenable to find?
