10+2 (<strong>PHYSICS</strong>)INSTRUCTIONS FOR PAPER SETTERNote:1. There will be one theory paper consisting of total 26 questions.Three questions of two mark each & three questions of three markseach are choice questions will be set in the paper.2. Question no.6 to 14 will be of 2 marks each, out of total 9 questionscarrying 2 marks each, candidate can attempt any 6 questions.3. Question no.15 to 23 will be of 3 marks each. Out of 9 questions carrying3 marks each, candidate can attempt any 6 questions.4. Question no. 24 to 26 will be of five marks each. There will beinternal choice in them.5. From one unit, only choice question either of two marks of three markscan be set e.g. if in one unit according to marks distribution scheme thereis no three mark question then examiner can select 3 marks choicequestion from that unit, same pattern will be followed for two markschoice question.SYLLABUS : THEORYUnit 1: ElectrostaticsElectric Charges; Conservation of charge, Coulomb's law-force between twopoint charges, forces between multiple charges; superposition principle andcontinuous charge distribution. Electrical field, electric Field due to a pointcharger, electric-field lines; electric dipole, electric field due to a dipole; torqueon a dipole in uniform electric field. Electric flux, statement of Gauss’s theoremand its applications to find field due to infinitely long straight wire, uniformlycharged infinite plane sheet and uniformly charged thin spherical shell (Fieldinside and outside). Electric potential, potential difference, electric potential dueto a point charge, a dipole and system of charges; equipotential surfaces, electrical potential energy of a system of two point charges and of electricdipole in an electrostatic field. Conductors and insulators, free charges andbound charges inside a conductor. Dielectrics and electric polarization, capacitors and capacitance, combination of capacitors in series and in parallel, capacitance of a parallel plate capacitor with and without dielectric mediumbetween the plates, energy stored in a capacitor, Van de Graff generator.26
