Doors and Closures
in Car Body Engineering 2009
25 – 26 November 2009
Bad Nauheim | Frankfurt, Germany
English/German simultaneous translation

Special Requirements
In car body engineering, doors and closures often take on a special
position: On the one hand, they have to fit smoothly into the design,
construction and production concept of the complete vehicle, and on
the other hand they are very significant in determining a number of
vehicle properties that are of high relevance for the perceived customer
comfort, for the driving characteristics and for safety aspects.
From special CAE technologies to specific construction principles,
material concepts and testing methods, doors and closures continuously
provide very unique challenges to development and production
engineers.
This is why the Automotive Circle International conference on “Doors
and Closures in Car Body Engineering” is specifically dedicated to
presenting the most recent engineering solutions related to such
parts. The conference again gathers the globally leading network of
automotive engineering experts in Bad Nauheim to discuss newest
door and closure developments, featuring both OEM presentations
of new body-in-white parts and the presentation of trailblazing
developments by important system suppliers and research institutions,
defining the benchmark of these developments in intensive
discussions.
Particular focus topics of the conference in 2009
– Novel hang-on parts in series production: Leading OEM present
technical developments concerning body-in-white doors and
closures from most recent series vehicles
– Innovative material concepts: Innovative steel, light metal and
plastics solutions competing for both technically and economically
viable weight reduction in hang-on parts
– Forming and joining techniques: Meeting the challenges posed
by design specifications, lightweight material mix concepts and
novel materials
– Function integration: Doors and closures in the area of conflict
between lightweight design and multifunctionality
Interactive Focus Workshops
As an interactive benefit, the conference includes two intensive
90-minute focus workshops, dedicated to specific current issues
in the development of automotive hang-on parts. Choose the workshop
that suits your individual interests best and bring up your
aspects for discussion. Positive side effect: The focus workshops
will effectively bring you together with other peers who share these
interests, maximising your networking possibilities.
The conference addresses:
Automotive engineers responsibly involved in the pre-development,
development, planning or production of car body hang-on parts,
i.e. doors and closures, from European OEM and beyond, as well as
from their system suppliers and engineering service providers.
