Darra to Springfield Transport Corridor - Stage 1New pedestrian and cycle path to providesustainable transport alternativesThe path is a vital piece in thepedestrian-cycle network, joiningBrisbane’s CBD with the WesternCorridor, making it easier and safer forthe community to get out and be active.It will also ease traffic congestion andcontribute positively to a sustainabletransport future.The new shared access path will linkBoundary Road at Darra to Julie Road atCarole Park with connections to thelocal road network at Kelliher Road,Garden Road, Progress Road andGovernment Road at Richlands andClendon Street at Wacol.Pedestrian and cycle path under construction at WacolThe path will also provide:• a dedicated path for walking and cyclingaway from the general traffic• a convenient link between commuterdestinations• connections with the local street networkand other facilitiesFast factsPedestrian and cycle pathfeatures:• length – 5.6km• width – 3.5m• security lighting, whererequired, to improve safety• four rest stops to include:º shaded seatingº bicycle racksº drinking fountainsº themed signage panelsfeaturing local stories.• an opportunity for the communityto gain access to and enjoy thesurrounding environment• rest areas for pedestrians and cyclistsalong the route.CentenaryHighway almostcompleteThe Centenary Highway duplication isvery close to completion.
