Asset-Purchase ProgramsAsset-Purchase ProgramsThe Bank participates in the Mortgage Partnership Finance®(MPF®) 1 program, which is an attractive alternative to thetraditional secondary market. Through MPF, the Bankpurchases eligible mortgages from participating members.Members originate and service the loans and are paid feesin return for retaining a portion of the credit risk associatedwith the loans. The Bank manages the interest-rate, liquidity,and prepayment risks, as well as a portion of the credit riskof the loans purchased.We also facilitate the sale of loans to Fannie Mae byparticipating members through the MPF Xtra ® program.The MPF program is administered by the Federal HomeLoan Bank of Chicago. As the MPF Provider, FHLB Chicagosets base prices, rates, and fees associated with variousMPF products using observable third-party pricing sourcesas inputs to its proprietary pricing model. The Bank has theability to adjust prices based on various criteria includingvolume, credit risk, or level of interest rates. The MPFProvider publishes updated quotations on its secure eMPF ®web site, www.fhlbmpf.com, during normal business hours.Participating members can execute delivery commitments ofless than $1 million directly via the web site. Larger commitmentsrequire a phone call to the MPF hotline, 1-877-463-6673.
