Office <strong>of</strong>Deputy Commissioner<strong>of</strong> Maritime AffairsTHE REPUBLIC OF LIBERIALIBERIA MARITIME AUTHORITYMarine NoticeTEC-006Rev. 06/12TO:SUBJECT:ALL SHIPOWNERS, OPERATORS, MASTERS AND OFFICERS OFMERCHANT SHIPS, AND AUTHORIZED CLASSIFICATION SOCIETIES<strong>Carriage</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Grain</strong>Reference: (a) Maritime Regulation No. 7.191(b) SOLAS 1974, as amended(c) MSC/ Circ. 363 <strong>of</strong> 25 April 1983(d) MSC/ Circ. 488 <strong>of</strong> 6 June 1988Supersedes: Marine Notice TEC-006, dated 1/00PURPOSE:This Notice is to advise Owners and Masters <strong>of</strong> their responsibility to ensure that their shipsare properly approved for grain loading and that neither the Administration nor its authorized Agentswill be responsible for the consequence <strong>of</strong> improper or inadequate documentation which fails tomeet the requirements <strong>of</strong> the Liberian regulations or the legislation <strong>of</strong> any port State.APPLICABILITY:The provisions <strong>of</strong> Chapter VI <strong>of</strong> SOLAS will be applied in full to all approvals <strong>of</strong> grainloading arrangements for the Liberian vessels <strong>of</strong> greater than 20 gross tons including non-selfpropelled barges constructed or utilized for the carriage <strong>of</strong> grain.REQUIREMENTS:1.0 <strong>Grain</strong> loading arrangements for all Liberian ships will be approved in accordance with theprovisions <strong>of</strong> Chapter VI <strong>of</strong> reference (a). However, approvals granted to vessels built priorto May 1980 in accordance with the provisions <strong>of</strong> Regulation 12 <strong>of</strong> Chapter VI, SOLAS1960, IMO Resolution A.262(VIII), or IMO Resolution A. 184(VI) will remain valid.1 <strong>of</strong> 2Inquiries concerning the subject <strong>of</strong> this Notice should be directed to the Office <strong>of</strong> the Deputy Commissioner, Republic <strong>of</strong>Liberia, the Liberian International Ship & Corporate Registry, LLC, 8619 Westwood Center Dr., Suite 300, Vienna, VA22182, USA 06/12


2.0 The contents <strong>of</strong> MSC/Circ. 363 are to be taken into consideration when applying Part C <strong>of</strong>Chapter VI "Strength <strong>of</strong> <strong>Grain</strong> Division."3.0 Loading plans, calculations and other data related to grain loading arrangements <strong>of</strong>fered forapproval, are required to be submitted directly to a full member <strong>of</strong> the InternationalAssociation <strong>of</strong> Classification Societies. All <strong>of</strong> these organizations have been duly authorizedby Liberia as Agents for approving the grain loading arrangements for Liberian flag ships.These organizations have been further authorized to issue <strong>of</strong>ficial grain loading certificateson behalf <strong>of</strong> the Administration in a form prescribed by the Office <strong>of</strong> the DeputyCommissioner.* * * * *TEC-006 2 <strong>of</strong> 2 06/12The Republic <strong>of</strong> Liberia
