FAQ’SLetters <strong>of</strong> RecommendationWhich letters am I required to send?UNDERGRAD LETTERS – You will select one <strong>of</strong> the following options:Premedical Advisory Committee Letter: If your school has a PremedCommittee that generates a cumulative letter. This is generally a single letter, but mayhave other letters attached.Undergraduate institution packet <strong>of</strong> letters: If your undergraduateinstitution has a service that compiles all your letters and forwards them together with acover letter.Two separate letters from classroom pr<strong>of</strong>essors: If your undergraduateinstitution has neither a Premed Committee or a Service, you will need to supply us withtwo letters from classroom pr<strong>of</strong>essors, one <strong>of</strong> which must have taught you Biology,Chemistry or Physics.GRADUATE LETTERS – You will select one <strong>of</strong> the following options:Currently Enrolled: If you are currently enrolled in graduate school, youare required to supply two letters <strong>of</strong> recommendation. One must come from yourpr<strong>of</strong>essor or thesis advisor and the other one from the dean or department chairman.Previously Enrolled: If you were previously enrolled in graduate school,you are required to supply one letter <strong>of</strong> recommendation from a pr<strong>of</strong>essor.Recently Accepted: If you have recently enrolled in a graduate programyou are required to supply one letter from the dean or department chairman.Never Enrolled:OPTIONAL LETTERSOptional letters <strong>of</strong> recommendation are generally personal or pr<strong>of</strong>essional innature and are not required to complete the application. If they are listed and arrivebefore the application is complete they will be included in the review. If the applicationbecomes complete before they arrive they will not be included in the review.Can I use letters <strong>of</strong> recommendations from Post Baccalaureate coursework?If the coursework was not part <strong>of</strong> the graduate program, you can use these lettersto fulfill the undergraduate letter requirement.


How will I know my letters <strong>of</strong> recommendation have arrived?After you certify your Secondary Application on-line, the Admissions Office willthen be able enter letters <strong>of</strong> recommendation that have been received. You can checkyour status on-line from the Status Check Page.MCATSHow do I notify the <strong>Medical</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Wisconsin</strong> if I add or change the testdate <strong>of</strong> an MCAT?Additions or changes to the test date <strong>of</strong> an MCAT administration will ONLY beaccepted via changes made through AMCAS.What will be the completion date <strong>of</strong> my application if I take or have taken anadditional MCAT?If we are in receipt <strong>of</strong> all other required materials your completion date will bethe day that we receive your additional MCAT scores.Can MCAT scores from the January 2008 administration be considered inthe application review?Results from the test dates after September, 2007 will NOT be considered in thereview process for the entering class <strong>of</strong> 2008.MiscellaneousWhat is the application fee?The application fee for the Secondary Application is $70. Payment is accepted bycredit or debit card ONLY.Can I use materials from a previous application?With a written or e-mail request, letters <strong>of</strong> recommendation and/or a DeansCertification from the previous year application only can be transferred to your currentapplication.Is the photograph required?No, it is an optional part <strong>of</strong> the application.
