• BGP is become a new Transport Protocol – IP Prefixes,L3VPN, L2VPN, MVPN, Security, EVPN etc.• In Traditional BGP, all address-families (IPv4, IPv6, VPN,etc…) have the same resource priority• Often there is a need to have some priority amongst thedifferent address-families• If one address-family is using too much resources, it canstarve out the resources for the other address-families• If one address-family corrupts the BGP data-base all otheraddress-families are impacted –• Process crash• CPU starvation• OOM• Need to provide some protection/isolation for betterresiliency/reliability© 2012 <strong>Cisco</strong> and/or its affiliates.
