An intersite loan request should be made using the special terminals in the Library reception area;intersite loans are for a maximum of one month, including the days necessary for volume <strong>del</strong>ivery.An intersite loan counts as one of the loans a borrower can make (for the maximum number ofbooks which can be taken out see the table giving details for each category of borrower).Photocopies of articles from journals located at other sites can be requested in the same way.Interlibrary loans and Document DeliveryBy means of this service volumes, microfilm and other library material not held in the Università<strong>Cattolica</strong>’s Library System can be requested on loan from libraries in Italy and abroad; the servicealso sends its own volumes available for loan to the interlibrary loan services of other librarieswhich may request them.The service also can also request photocopies or where possible articles in electronic format fromjournals not held by the Library, from other libraries in Italy or abroad; it sends photocopies ofvolumes and journals in the Library to the interlibrary loan service requesting them.Before making a request the user must check that the document is not held by the Università<strong>Cattolica</strong> Library System.When the documents arrive the user is informed by phone or email.The volumes borrowed via this service cannot be borrowed, but are for reference use only.Readers using this service will be charged expenses (postage and/or photocopies).Photocopies can be made only as permitted by copyright law (Legge 18 agosto 2000 n. 248).Multimedia servicesConsultation of library databasesLibrary users can also consult library material in file format (CD ROM, on line, full text e-journals)in accordance with the licence agreement signed by the University when acquiring access rights toeach data base.The catalogues of the databases acquired on CD ROM and on line and of the full text ejournals canbe consulted on the home page of the Università <strong>Cattolica</strong>’s web site.The Database Service also provides individual help to readers in using the electronic formats andthe technological tools needed for accessing the information and documents.When copying and downloading files of documents, the contractual conditions agreed between thepublisher and the Library must be respected.Multimedia LibraryThe Multimedia Library, forming part of the multimedia services provided by the Library, is an areaof cultural exploitation and production. It was set up to support teaching and research and as asource of information.None of the Multimedia Library assets may be borrowed; they can be consulted after filling in anapplication form.Users must inform library staff of any equipment which is broken or not working properly, toensure it is repaired promptly.In the Multimedia Library rooms the copying of software or other available material is prohibited.Library information and advice (reference)The Service provides general library information and assists in the consultation of the Library’scatalogues and possessions, and in the use of national and international on-line catalogues.Photocopying ServiceThe photocopying services is contracted out to a company external to the Università <strong>Cattolica</strong>.Users are responsible for any photocopies they make in terms of copyright and costs.Anyone infringing these Regulations, or in any way disturbing the silence and the properfunctioning of the Library, may be suspended temporarily or permanently from its use.Details of how to access to the Library, addresses and opening hours can be found on theUniversità <strong>Cattolica</strong>’s home page.
