P A G E 8Equestrian NewsThe Equestrian Center has been busythis year hosting IHSA Hunt Seat and Westernshows, in addition to putting on Showing Underthe Stars in-house shows. The dressage teamwill put on a show later in the semester,but hosted a clinic in themeantime. All the teams have beenworking hard in lessons and practicerides as well as keeping thebarn and horses neat and clean.At the therapeutic riding barn, the ponies are workingwith the student instructors to give kids and adultswith disabilities in the community a chance to learn ridingskills. For the Halloween-themed Showing Under theStars, riders and their horses dress up in creative costumes.
P A G E 9Relay for LifeAs October is Breast Cancer Research & Awareness Month,Team SAPC began its twenty-four hour participation in the Relayfor Life of ScotlandCounty on October 1, 2010in order to raise money forfinding a cure. Forty-fourteams from around Scotlandcounty registered toparticipate. Not only wasthe event itself inspiring,but the days leading up toit. The St. Andrews teamcaptain, Renée PortorsnokTeam Leader Renee Jones (left) stands by the tent.Jones (Director of Career Services), wasted no time recruitingnew members to the team. The original fundraising goal wasmodestly set at $500. However, by the end of the event, TeamSAPC had far exceeded its $500 goal, collectively raising agrand total of $1130.
