<strong>Management</strong> <strong>Practices</strong> <strong>Committee</strong>ACEC STRATEGIC PLAN: Six strategic goals under the plan are:1. Become recognized by all engineering companies in the United States as their legislative advocatefor the promotion and protection of their business interests.2. Become recognized by all engineering companies in the United States as their primary resource onbusiness practices.3. Become recognized by all stakeholders in the built environment as the national voice of theengineering industry.4. Grow ACEC/PAC to a $1 million-per-year PAC by 2010, while “capturing” the influence ofour most politically active individual members.5. Grow the Minuteman Fund to respond to critical state issues and federal appellate cases whilemaintaining a “war chest” of $1 million.6. Grow the number of member firms by 2% each year, grow the number of member firm employeesby 3% each year, and recruit 90% of the eligible ENR “Top 500 Design Firms” as ACEC membersby 2010.PURPOSE:2006-2007 GOALSGeneral1. Examine and draft new policy statements, as needed.2. Recommend “best practices” subject matter for the Institute for Business <strong>Management</strong> to implementin educational programming.3. Provide oversight to the Professional Forums.4. Investigate industry fee structures with an eye toward achieving improved commercial terms.5. Investigate declining availability of engineering employees, especially as a result of decliningnumbers of graduates and immigration challenges, and determine whether ACEC can take action tohelp solve the problem (or whether the market will self-correct over time.)6. Assist the Institute for Business <strong>Management</strong> in developing the comprehensive Engineering Firm’sManual of Professional Practice (in conjunction with the IBM <strong>Committee</strong>) by drafting sections andreviewing text.
