She completed her Bachelor'sdegree in <strong>Tourism</strong> Management in 2006 <strong>and</strong> Masters in <strong>Tourism</strong> Management in June2012, both from <strong>Moi</strong> <strong>University</strong>. Prof. MosesOkelloProf. BobWishitemiob Wishitemi is Professor of <strong>Tourism</strong> <strong>and</strong> Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of<strong>Research</strong> & Extension at <strong>Moi</strong> <strong>University</strong> He is the Chairman of the KenyaBRevenue Authority-Income Tax Local Committee <strong>for</strong> Western Kenya <strong>and</strong> amember of the Academic Board of the Catering <strong>and</strong> <strong>Tourism</strong> Development LevyTrustees. Prof. Wishitemi served as Head, Department of Wildlife Management (<strong>Moi</strong><strong>University</strong>) in 1989; Principal, Kenya Wildlife Service Training Institute (Naivasha) in 1995;Head, Department of Wildlife Management (<strong>Moi</strong> <strong>University</strong>) in 1998; <strong>and</strong> Head,Department of <strong>Tourism</strong> Management (<strong>Moi</strong> <strong>University</strong>) in 2000. He has also served asActing Dean, Schools of Natural Resource Management <strong>and</strong> Business <strong>and</strong>Economics; <strong>and</strong> as Acting Principal, Chepkoilel Campus of <strong>Moi</strong> <strong>University</strong>. He has alsobeen involved in proposal writing, grant negotiations, projects management,programme administration, <strong>and</strong> has been involved in the <strong>for</strong>mulation <strong>and</strong> revision of<strong>Moi</strong> <strong>University</strong> Policies. His specific fields of research interest include: Wildlifeconservation <strong>and</strong> <strong>Tourism</strong>; Community based conservation initiatives; Conservation<strong>and</strong> Management of protected Areas Biodiversity: plans <strong>and</strong> strategy development& implementation; Cross-Border conservation <strong>and</strong> its impact on conservation <strong>and</strong>tourism activities; Wildlife-Based <strong>Tourism</strong> in Kenya; L<strong>and</strong> use-chances in Savannahwildlife areas of Kenya <strong>and</strong> impacts on tourism; <strong>and</strong> Pro-Poor <strong>Tourism</strong> Development.He has written over 60 research papers in refereed journals in the areas of WildlifeConservation <strong>and</strong> Management, Community-Based Conservation initiatives, WildlifeBased <strong>Tourism</strong> <strong>and</strong> Pro-Poor <strong>Tourism</strong> Development, <strong>and</strong> attended International <strong>and</strong>National Conference, Seminars <strong>and</strong> Workshops <strong>and</strong> several professional courses.Wishitemi has supervised 15 D.Phil., <strong>and</strong> 50 M. Phil c<strong>and</strong>idates to successfulcompletion.Prof. Moses Makonjio Okello is currently the Director of the School <strong>for</strong> Field Studies (SFS)programs in East Africa (Kenya <strong>and</strong> Tanzania). After getting his B. Sc. in WildlifeManagement from <strong>Moi</strong> <strong>University</strong>, he joined the <strong>University</strong> of Idaho (USA) <strong>for</strong> his M.Sc. inthe same field <strong>and</strong> graduated in 1993. He did his Ph.D. at the <strong>University</strong> of Alberta inWildlife Ecology <strong>and</strong> Management, graduating in 1996. He returned to Kenya as alecturer in the department of Wildlife Management at <strong>Moi</strong> <strong>University</strong> until 1999 whenhe joined SFS as a lecturer. He rose through the academic ranks in SFS, publishingextensively, presenting at academic <strong>for</strong>a <strong>and</strong> serving on two international journals asan editor. He held several administrative responsibilities at both <strong>Moi</strong> <strong>University</strong> <strong>and</strong> SFSKenya over the past 21 years. He was appointed the Director of SFS Center <strong>for</strong> WildlifeManagement Studies in June 2009.Dr. DamiannahKietiDr. Damiannah M. Kieti is a senior lecturer of tourism at <strong>Moi</strong> <strong>University</strong>, where she hastaught since 1998. She won a Commonwealth <strong>University</strong> Scholarship <strong>and</strong> earned a Ph.D in <strong>Tourism</strong> Management from <strong>Moi</strong><strong>University</strong> in 2008 having undertaken research inthe UK at the <strong>University</strong> of Wales institute, Cardiff. Her research interests include tourism<strong>and</strong> poverty reduction <strong>and</strong> the teaching of sustainable tourism, wildlife based tourism<strong>and</strong> community based tourism. She has published numerous articles in both areas <strong>and</strong>presented several papers at international conferences on tourism. She was appointedChair of School of Business <strong>and</strong> Economics Graduate Studies Committee in 2009. She iscurrently the Head of Department of <strong>Tourism</strong> <strong>and</strong> Tour Operations Management at<strong>Moi</strong><strong>University</strong>. She has supervised 3 D.Phil., <strong>and</strong> 10 M. Phil c<strong>and</strong>idates to successfulcompletion. Currently she is Editor-in-Chief of Africa Journal of <strong>Tourism</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Hospitality</strong>,Interim Chairperson of Kenya Association of <strong>Tourism</strong>, <strong>Travel</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Hospitality</strong> Educators<strong>and</strong> Ag. Dean, School of <strong>Tourism</strong>, <strong>Hospitality</strong> <strong>and</strong> Event management.
