Her teaching and research focus interest are mainly inLeisure and Recreation, Agri-tourism,Tourism Product Development andPolicy analysis,domestic tourismand trainingCoastal andMarine TourismResearchEnvironmentalconservation andmanagementmanagement, Language and tourism and developments studies. She has publishedarticles in various fields and presented several papers in various internationalconferences on tourism.

Prof. MosesOkelloProf. BobWishitemiob Wishitemi is Professor of Tourism and Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge ofResearch & Extension at Moi University He is the Chairman of the KenyaBRevenue Authority-Income Tax Local Committee for Western Kenya and amember of the Academic Board of the Catering and Tourism Development LevyTrustees. Prof. Wishitemi served as Head, Department of Wildlife Management (MoiUniversity) in 1989; Principal, Kenya Wildlife Service Training Institute (Naivasha) in 1995;Head, Department of Wildlife Management (Moi University) in 1998; and Head,Department of Tourism Management (Moi University) in 2000. He has also served asActing Dean, Schools of Natural Resource Management and Business andEconomics; and as Acting Principal, Chepkoilel Campus of Moi University. He has alsobeen involved in proposal writing, grant negotiations, projects management,programme administration, and has been involved in the formulation and revision ofMoi University Policies. His specific fields of research interest include: Wildlifeconservation and Tourism; Community based conservation initiatives; Conservationand Management of protected Areas Biodiversity: plans and strategy development& implementation; Cross-Border conservation and its impact on conservation andtourism activities; Wildlife-Based Tourism in Kenya; Land use-chances in Savannahwildlife areas of Kenya and impacts on tourism; and Pro-Poor Tourism Development.He has written over 60 research papers in refereed journals in the areas of WildlifeConservation and Management, Community-Based Conservation initiatives, WildlifeBased Tourism and Pro-Poor Tourism Development, and attended International andNational Conference, Seminars and Workshops and several professional courses.Wishitemi has supervised 15 D.Phil., and 50 M. Phil candidates to successfulcompletion.Prof. Moses Makonjio Okello is currently the Director of the School for Field Studies (SFS)programs in East Africa (Kenya and Tanzania). After getting his B. Sc. in WildlifeManagement from Moi University, he joined the University of Idaho (USA) for his M.Sc. inthe same field and graduated in 1993. He did his Ph.D. at the University of Alberta inWildlife Ecology and Management, graduating in 1996. He returned to Kenya as alecturer in the department of Wildlife Management at Moi University until 1999 whenhe joined SFS as a lecturer. He rose through the academic ranks in SFS, publishingextensively, presenting at academic fora and serving on two international journals asan editor. He held several administrative responsibilities at both Moi University and SFSKenya over the past 21 years. He was appointed the Director of SFS Center for WildlifeManagement Studies in June 2009.Dr. DamiannahKietiDr. Damiannah M. Kieti is a senior lecturer of tourism at Moi University, where she hastaught since 1998. She won a Commonwealth University Scholarship and earned a Ph.D in Tourism Management from MoiUniversity in 2008 having undertaken research inthe UK at the University of Wales institute, Cardiff. Her research interests include tourismand poverty reduction and the teaching of sustainable tourism, wildlife based tourismand community based tourism. She has published numerous articles in both areas andpresented several papers at international conferences on tourism. She was appointedChair of School of Business and Economics Graduate Studies Committee in 2009. She iscurrently the Head of Department of Tourism and Tour Operations Management atMoiUniversity. She has supervised 3 D.Phil., and 10 M. Phil candidates to successfulcompletion. Currently she is Editor-in-Chief of Africa Journal of Tourism and Hospitality,Interim Chairperson of Kenya Association of Tourism, Travel and Hospitality Educatorsand Ag. Dean, School of Tourism, Hospitality and Event management.
