DESIGNER TALK❝ it is great to seemy signaturestyle of glamourand elegancetranslated ontowallpaper❞you30 WhatWallsWantWhat was it about the concept of designingwallpaper that appealed to you?“I love the way you can change the whole look of aroom with the use of wallpaper. A blank canvas onwhich to create is a challenge all designers embraceand wallpaper is a great medium to work with. I finddifferent colours, textures and pattern can have sucha dramatic effect on a room.”What was your inspiration for the collection?“The designs are a true reflection of the influences Ihave experienced through my travel and my work asa fashion designer. It is great to see my signature styleof glamour and elegance translated onto wallpaper.”Do you find there are similarities betweenfashion and wallpaper?“Both are about expression and making a statementabout our personalities. Fashion leads the way andwhat we tend to find is that the trends on the catwalkfilter down to trends in wallpaper over a period oftime. We get comfortable around new colours andpatterns in the clothes we wear and this then makes anatural transition into our use of design on our walls.”What would you say to people who might betoo timid to try something so fashion-forwardfor their walls?“Create a storyboard as a starting point. Images yousee in magazines that you like, material swatches, colour areas that make you feel good. This will helpyou get your ideas together and give clarity on whatDESIGNER TALKdesignertalkmeet our teamGraham & Brown work with a broad portfolio of internationally renowned designers –here we caught up with four of them, and asked them to answer the most frequentlyasked questions the public want to know of our famous designers.Starting with Julien Macdonald, the glittering star of the catwalk fashion…are trying to achieve.
