Uses for theAHRS include a ship’s gyrocompass,attitude compensation for acousticnavigation systems and for surveygrade multi-beam echo sounders.The Acoustically Aided InertialNavigation System (AAINS) takesaiding inputs from LBL and USBLtransceivers as closely coupledobservations in addition to aidingfrom DVLs, GPS and the AHRSalgorithm.Lodestar also applies a heavealgorithm to the vertical motion of theunit resulting in a robust heavemeasurement solution. Therefore, theLodestar product is suitable for anyapplication that requires the accuratemeasurement of heading, heave, roll,pitch and with AAINS, position in ahighly dynamic environment.For a rigorous time reference thelocal clock can be locked to areference clock for missions lastingseveral days. Applications include asecondary reference system input toa DP drilling vessel and a subseaROV navigation system.In addition to the 4 traditional RS485/RS232 serial interfaces to aidingsensors and clients systems there isan Ethernet interface.
