• Sacramentals:• Are sacred signs established by the Church to give grace to people who use them withthe right disposition.• Prepare people to receive the sacraments.• Are aides for us.•When used well, we can attain grace and blessings.• A picture from the Bible is a sacramental--it can help us to meditate upon thoseevents which helps us grow in grace.• Review the sacramentals displayed on the table and discuss how each <strong>of</strong> them is an aide forour spiritual life. Radl<strong>of</strong>f) (6:55-7:00 PM)Message:• A blessing is a prayer praising God for his goodness and asking for his gifts to be bestowedon us.• How is a blessing a sacramental?•It is a ceremony and in this way it is a sign.•It helps us to grow in holiness through God's benediction.•Although not tangible in the manner <strong>of</strong> a rosary or a holy medal, it is still asacramental.• What are some <strong>of</strong> the occasions when we receive blessings?•At the end <strong>of</strong> Mass.•We bless ourselves with holy water.•Before and after meals.•When entering a ministry or vocation.• Objects can also be blessed.•In blessing and object, it is set apart for service to God.•When a rosary is blessed, it is set apart for prayer.• When a priest blesses a holy medal, it is set apart as a devotion to increase our faithand trust in God and to ask for the patronage <strong>of</strong> a particular saint.• (If a priest is available, have them at this time bless the sacramentals the youth havebrought and placed on the table)• Places can also be blessed, such as a Church or shrine.
