<strong>Cleaning</strong> <strong>and</strong><strong>maintenance</strong>Advice for H<strong>and</strong> <strong>Cleaning</strong> of <strong>Viridian</strong> ComfortPlus GlassThis glass product has a very thin coating on theinterior glass surface. It is this hard <strong>and</strong> durablecoating which gives the product improvedthermal insulation <strong>and</strong> solar control performancecompared to ordinary clear glass. The coatedsurface of <strong>Viridian</strong> ComfortPlus glass doesclean differently to ordinary glass <strong>and</strong> theseguidelines are recommended for the mostappropriate h<strong>and</strong> cleaning results.Routine <strong>Cleaning</strong>:H<strong>and</strong> cleaning of the coated (interior) surface,to visibly remove accumulated dust orfingerprints, can be accomplished usinga number of different glass cleaning products.The exterior surface of the glass is not coatedso can be cleaned in the same fashion asordinary glass.Recommended Routine <strong>Cleaning</strong> Products:Windex ® Multi-Surface Cleaner (colourlessliquid) (Australia) or Mr Muscle ® Surface <strong>and</strong>Glass (New Zeal<strong>and</strong>) (clear liquid availablefrom Supermarket), produced by SC Johnson& Son Pty Ltd; orA mixture of one part vinegar with ten parts water.In addition to the above products, commerciallyavailable vinegar-based glasscleaners havegenerally demonstrated an ability to providea clean, streak free glass surface. <strong>Viridian</strong> doesnot recommend the use of ammonia-base<strong>and</strong> alcohol-base glass cleaners becausethese products tend to leave visible streaks.Routine <strong>Cleaning</strong> Procedure:While cleaning ensure jewellery <strong>and</strong> watchesare removed <strong>and</strong> gloves should be worn.Flood the glass surface with the spray-oncleaning solution or with a cloth saturatedwith the cleaning solution. Be generous withthe amount of solution applied.Scrub the wetted surface with a clean,lint free towel or cloth.Wipe dry with a dry, clean, lint free towelor cloth. Do not use a squeegee on thecoated (interior) surface.To prevent streaking, stop wiping when theglass is almost dry <strong>and</strong> there is a uniform filmof moisture left on the glass surface. Spot cleaning productswork to remove markings from grease, oil, tapeadhesive, <strong>and</strong> crayons or other waxy materialsas well as paint <strong>and</strong> rub-off marks from plastics.Recommended Spot <strong>Cleaning</strong> Products:Acetone (solvent available from hardwarestore) <strong>and</strong> must be used strictly in accordancewith manufacturer’s recommendations<strong>and</strong> warnings.Spot <strong>Cleaning</strong> Procedure:While cleaning ensure jewellery <strong>and</strong> watchesare removed <strong>and</strong> gloves should be worn.Apply a small quantity of the cleaner listedabove to a clean, wet cloth or towel.Rub on areas of glass needing spot cleaning.Wipe clean using a dry, clean, lint freetowel or cloth followed by a routinecleaning procedure.Specialised <strong>Cleaning</strong>:Do not use razor blades, steel wool, scouringbristles or other metallic or abrasive objects onthe coated surface. If metallic objects contactthe coated surface, a thin layer of metalremoved from the object may be depositedonto the surface which results in a discolouredstain which is difficult to remove using normalcleaning procedures.Recommended Specialised <strong>Cleaning</strong> Products:Hydrochloric Acid (available from hardware store).Specialised <strong>Cleaning</strong> Procedure:While cleaning ensure jewellery <strong>and</strong> watchesare removed <strong>and</strong> gloves should be worn.Carefully follow the chemical manufacturersuse <strong>and</strong> safety instructions. If there are none,pick a br<strong>and</strong> that has instructions <strong>and</strong> safetyprecautions or contact the manufacturerbefore use or application.Apply a small quantity of the specialisedcleaning product listed above to a wet,clean cloth or towel.
