E. Aubry Wagon & Au<strong>to</strong> WorksBuilding (pictured below left and below right), located2015 S. C St., was built in 1910 by architectO. F. Larson (who also built the Olympus Hotel indown<strong>to</strong>wn Tacoma, as well as Jason Lee MiddleSchool), according <strong>to</strong> a nomination prepared by SusanJohnson, an architectural his<strong>to</strong>rian at TacomabasedArtifacts Consulting. The building's originalowner, J. E. Aubry, serviced wagons and carriagesout of the three-s<strong>to</strong>ry brick building. Aubry latershifted his focus <strong>to</strong> repairing au<strong>to</strong>mobile as modesof transportation changed.The former Hunt-Mottet Warehouse (pictured <strong>to</strong>pand right), located at 2109-2115 S. C St., was builtin 1907 by the architectural firm Bullard and Hill,which also built the his<strong>to</strong>ric J. B. Stevens Garage,otherwise known as the "Graffiti Garage," in down<strong>to</strong>wnTacoma, according <strong>to</strong> the nomination. Thebuilding's original owner, Frederick Mottet, operatedthe Hunt-Mottet Company, a wholesale hardwaredistribu<strong>to</strong>r serving the local logging, farming,and mining industries, out of the two-s<strong>to</strong>ry building.The nominations were submitted by HorizonCommerce Partners, a Tacoma-based commercialreal estate and investment company that owns both<strong>buildings</strong>.<strong>Tacoma's</strong> Landmarks Preservation Commissionis scheduled <strong>to</strong> meet on Weds., Dec. 18 at 5:30 p.m.at the Tacoma Municipal Building, 747 Market St.,City Council Chambers, <strong>to</strong> review the nominationsand determine whether the <strong>buildings</strong> meet the criteriarequired <strong>to</strong> be <strong>nominated</strong> <strong>to</strong> the local his<strong>to</strong>ric<strong>register</strong>.
