«ACOUSTIK» LOW VOC FORMULANON-DRYING, NON-SKINNING RUBBER BASED SEALANTD E S C R I P T I O NTECHNICAL DATAPRODUCT CODE156 XX0Technical data # 20090428«ACOUSTIK» is a non-drying, non-skinning synthetic polymer based sealant to soundproof hidden joints.I N T E N D E D U S E SAcoustik use:«ACOUSTIK» is recommended to soundproof hidden joints, curtain walls, small cracks between door frames and theframework, rigid insulation, polyethylene vapor barrier sheet, joints between the gypsum and floor, contour of electricboxes, etc., everywhere to avoid air transmission, humidity orto reduce sound transmission through the joint between twomaterials. Can be use on wood, gypsum, metal, polystyrene, polyethylene, etc.«ACOUSTIK» is formulated to soundproofing and sealpermanently joints and openings.Vapor barrier use:«ACOUSTIK» can be use also to seal joints between polyethylene vapor barrier sheets to maintain air barrier and vapor barriercontinuity.REMARKS:→ does not skin and remains tacky permanently;→ does not withstand immersion (tanks) or abrasion (foot traffic).A D V A N T A G E S⇒ Professional quality.⇒ Easy to apply even at low temperatures.⇒ Reduces sound transmission.⇒ Eliminates air drafts.⇒ Permanent adhesion.⇒ Facilitates the application of vapor barriers.⇒ Compatible with polystyrene insulation panels.⇒ Can be applied on vertical, horizontal or overhangingsurfaces without subsiding or sagging.S T O R A G E A N D A P P L I C A T I O N T E M P E R A T U R E«ACOUSTIK» does not deteriorate below freezing point. Anyhow, since its viscosity increases when the temperature dropsdown, it is recommended to store it in a dry place of which the temperature is between 5°C (40°F) and 30°C (85°F) to make itsuse possible. Thus, the sealed cartridges could be preserved for 3 years.«ACOUSTIK» can be applied either in winter or in summer at a temperature between –15°C (5°F) et 30°C (85°F).S U R F A C E P R E P A R A T I O NThe surface must be in a seemingly new, dry firm and clean state. It must also be free of creosote, oil, grease, wax, silicone orsilicone based product, asphalt or bitumen based product (coating, adhesive and so on), rust and any loose or foreign material. If the application of «ACOUSTIK» is to be made at a temperature lower than 5°C (40°F), the surface must be at a temperature atleast 3°C (5°F) higher than dew point. The surfaces must be free of frost or ice.Product: «ACOUSTIK» Data sheet # 156 XX0-20090428 page 1 on 2R E Q U I R E D P R I M E RNo primer is normally required.MULCO guarantees the high quality of its products which are conform to the description given in the technical data and on the labels, and appropriate to the use they are intended for, in accordance to the instructions written by the Company.Nevertheless, since the manufacturer exercises no control over the circumstances, the methods and use conditions, that guarantee only covers the high quality of MULCO products.

A P P L I C A T I O NCut the nozzle of the cartridge at right angle (90°), a little narrower than the width of the desired joint. Piercethe aluminum patch sealing the cartridge inside the nozzle.Use a caulking gun and apply with a uniform and adequate pressure.During the extrusion of «ACOUSTIK», the angle between the gun and the joint to be made must be approximately 45°.Pull the tip of the gun away form the joint, as illustrated.C O V E R A G E300 ml: 5.3 linear meter (17.5 linear feet);800 ml: 14 linear meter (46.5 linear feet).T E C H N I C A L G U I D EGENERAL APPEARANCE:COLOR:COMPOSITION:APPLICATION METHOD:FREEZE-THAW STABILITY:CLEANING AGENT (wet product)CLEANING AGENT (dry product)CLEANING AGENT (skin contact):Homogeneous paste without lumps, easy to be extruded.Aluminum or black.Synthetic polymer rubber, synthetic resins (binder), color pigments, inert charges(pigments), solvents (volatile material) and other additives.Caulking gun.«ACOUSTIK» will not be damaged by the frost.Use mineral spirit.Use a putty knife and mineral spirits or another effective solvent; take care not to affectthe other surfaces with too strong solvent.Wash with mineral oil, as soon as possible then wash with soapy water and rinse.FLAMMABILITY: At application: flammable;Dried:combustible.BLEEDING:No staining.STANDARDS:Associated to CAN/CGSB 19.21-M87.SERVICE TEMPERATURE: Minimum: - 30°C (- 22°F);Maximum:50°C (122°F).VAPOR BARRIER PROPERTY: The formulation of «ACOUSTIK» gives vapor barrier properties.Regulatory VOC (less water andexempt solvent):Inferior to 4% (w/w)R E S T R I C T I O N SRemains tacky and soft permanently.Do not use on frozen or damp surfaces.Must be covered.Cannot be painted. The drying time of «ACOUSTIK» depends on temperature, relative humidity and ventilation. The shelf life is diminished by warehousing over 25°C (77°F).Adhesion on materials not specifically mentioned cannot be guaranteed. It is up to the customer to make his ownperformance tests or to consult our technical department.S A F E T Y P R E C A U T I O N SKEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.Before using «ACOUSTIK»read its material safety data sheet. If the product is used indoors, the area must be ventilated to the outdoors during application and drying time of «ACOUSTIK».Do not recycle the air.Avoid using in areas where the solvents evaporating from «ACOUSTIK» could affect food or any other product sensitive toodors or inside residences where sensitive people are present.«ACOUSTIK» contains flammable solvents. Do not smoke when using the product. Work in good ventilation conditions.Suppress all flash sources, flames or intense heat at the working place and near it.Disposal: consult your municipality to dispose in conformity with regulations. This technical data was edited on April 28, 2009 and replaces all earlier publication.
