Many are complementary;swimmers come with a wellestablishedaerobic base, goodfootballers have 90 minutesfartlek training every match,gymnasts have a core strengthand co-ordination most of usenvy, so the real problem ishow to manage the variousactivities, where to build in therest, recovery, rebuild periods.We can't uninvent thecyberworld the challenge ishow to integrate that withtraditional sports. ResultsNational road relays squad6 th October Lee ValleyMinithonFor a few years now our youngathletes have been taking partin the Minithon series presentedat Lee Valley. These eventshave been instrumental in thedevelopment of some of ourbetter athletes, providing aunique competitive opportunityin some of the best indoorfacilities in the country. Theworth of these events can bejudged by some of the athleticsworlds ‘glitterati’ introducingtheir own children to athleticsthrough these events, today(Sunday 6th October) saw thelikes of John Regis and DwainChambers with their childrencompeting. Dwain Chambers infact did the honours ofpresenting the medals.The format is based on pointsbeing awarded for performancenot position, aggregated overthree events chosen from amenu of seven events. Ourclubs winners today were;Year 6 & 7 girls; gold medals toMaddie Wilton, Hollie Thurgoodand Serena Vincent, bronzemedals to Amelia Stone andPhoebe March.www.portsmouthathletic.co.uk Page 5
