Programs ranked second were Philosophy and Library, Informationand Archive Management, while Bus<strong>in</strong>ess Adm<strong>in</strong>istration ranked third.Founded <strong>in</strong> 1937, RUC is now comprised <strong>of</strong> 22 different schools <strong>of</strong> discipl<strong>in</strong>e, 14 <strong>in</strong>ter-discipl<strong>in</strong>arycenters, 16 transitional centers for post-doctoral fellows, and also a School <strong>of</strong> Cont<strong>in</strong>u<strong>in</strong>g Education, aSchool <strong>of</strong> Education and Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g, the Shenzhen Research Institute, and International College (SuzhouResearch Institute). At 2009, RUC reached an enrollment <strong>of</strong> 22,856 full-time students, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g 10,852undergraduate students, 9,834 postgraduate students, 1,578 <strong>in</strong>ternational students and 592 other students.About SFRUCThe School <strong>of</strong> F<strong>in</strong>ance (SFRUC) has two national key discipl<strong>in</strong>es (F<strong>in</strong>ance and Public F<strong>in</strong>ance) and onenational key research center (Ch<strong>in</strong>a F<strong>in</strong>ancial Policy Research Center). The research center is the onlynational level research center <strong>in</strong> the areas <strong>of</strong> F<strong>in</strong>ance and Public F<strong>in</strong>ance <strong>in</strong> Ch<strong>in</strong>a. To cultivate more <strong>in</strong>ternationally recognizable talents, which are <strong>in</strong> short supply after Ch<strong>in</strong>a’s access to theWTO, SFRUC has established an <strong>in</strong>novative program for talented students, the undergraduate Pilot Class <strong>in</strong>F<strong>in</strong>ance and Mathematics with bil<strong>in</strong>gual teachers. This new program is part <strong>of</strong> the Quality Project <strong>in</strong> HigherEducation –“Second Major with Dist<strong>in</strong>ctive Features”, funded by the M<strong>in</strong>istry <strong>of</strong> Education <strong>of</strong> Ch<strong>in</strong>a, and isbased on the successful experience <strong>of</strong> the Pilot Class <strong>in</strong> F<strong>in</strong>ance with Bachelor (4-year) plus <strong>Master</strong> (2-year)degrees <strong>in</strong> SFRUC. Each year, twenty-five top-notch students with excellent potential are selected to study <strong>in</strong>the Pilot Class.To cater to the grow<strong>in</strong>g demand for highly capable talented managers who are well equipped with cutt<strong>in</strong>gedgeknowledge <strong>of</strong> Public Economics, Corporate F<strong>in</strong>ance, and Taxation, SFRUC has established anotherPilot Class program, the Pilot Class <strong>in</strong> Public F<strong>in</strong>ance and Taxation. Each year, twenty top-notch studentswith excellent potential are selected to study <strong>in</strong> this Pilot Class with bil<strong>in</strong>gual teach<strong>in</strong>g.About MSF ProgramThe <strong>Master</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Science</strong> <strong>in</strong> F<strong>in</strong>ance (MSF) International Program was established <strong>in</strong> September 2010 and isrunn<strong>in</strong>g well and highly reviewed. The program depends on the academic advantages and tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g experience<strong>of</strong> the School <strong>of</strong> F<strong>in</strong>ance, <strong>of</strong>fer<strong>in</strong>g overseas students – who are <strong>in</strong>terested <strong>in</strong> understand<strong>in</strong>g Ch<strong>in</strong>a’s f<strong>in</strong>ancialconditions and problems but have not yet had a good basis <strong>of</strong> Ch<strong>in</strong>ese language – an opportunity tocomprehensively understand Ch<strong>in</strong>ese culture, economy and f<strong>in</strong>ance. Weencourage students to f<strong>in</strong>ish most <strong>of</strong> their courses <strong>in</strong> the first academic year and the teach<strong>in</strong>g activities areorganized <strong>in</strong> this way. We <strong>of</strong>fer flexibility to students <strong>in</strong> the second year. This means students can choose<strong>in</strong>ternships relevant to their own career plans. Students are also allowed to return to his/her home country toconduct thesis writ<strong>in</strong>g under the supervision <strong>of</strong> his/her advisor.Extracurricular ActivitiesWe strive to <strong>of</strong>fer students the best possible experience through various approaches. For example, wecurrently <strong>of</strong>fer:Field TripsRich and varied field trips can promote understand<strong>in</strong>g <strong>of</strong> the state and characteristics <strong>of</strong> the Ch<strong>in</strong>ese firms,<strong>in</strong>dustries and economy. It will also benefit students who wish to work <strong>in</strong> Ch<strong>in</strong>a after graduation. One-year tuition (60,000 RMB) is waived entirely for TA.28
