Projects in my area that stand a reasonable chance of going early 2014 are 30 +miles of 24” in Alabama, 130 miles of 12” in Louisiana, 77 miles of 24” and 30” inMississippi and Alabama, and a de-commission project near Atlanta, Georgia. Wehave some big inch projects on the drawing board for next summer that will putmany hands to work. Double joint work at Panama City, Florida is full speed ahead. The Atlanta Gas Light work in Georgia is about 95% complete. This work has beensteady for over four (4) years, but it is nearing its end. I have several small jobs thatwill be complete by the time you read this report. As most of you know by now I have announced my candidacy for the AlabamaSenate District 13. I am so proud of the endorsement of the UA and Pipeliners Union798. My opponent is likely to be the most anti-union politician I have ever heardof. He wears the badge of union hater proudly and never misses an opportunity tosay so publicly. He recently pushed for a constitutional amendment to ban PLA’s andunions in Alabama, a state that has suffered with right to work for less, for nearly 60years. I fully understand that I am not climbing a hill; it is a mountain, and I need thesupport of every brother and sister. It takes volunteers and money in a red state likeAlabama. Look at my web page www.electdarrellturner.com/ or my FB page, “DarrellTurner business” and decide for yourself if our campaign is worth your effort andyour donation.I am a full-time 798 employee, and I am on the job every day. Electing a voice forLabor to the Alabama Legislature can only strengthen our position with the Oil andGas transmission companies. Alabama is going to play a prominent role in the nextseveral years in big inch, mega pipeline projects, and we must be in the thick of it toprotect what is ours.CHRIS LANCASTERIN, KY, MI, NC, OH, TN918/270-6735 918/663-6520 Press 1I enjoyed the opportunity to visit with the memberswho were at the September meeting. With all thework going on it is understandable that not everyonewas able to be present. To those who were able to bethere, I give my appreciation for your interest in theaffairs of the local; to those who are manning workand unable to attend, I give my sincere thanks for yourwork efforts. I congratulate all candidates for committeeson your nominations, and I know whoever iselected will serve our membership well. At any rate, those who are running will be winners for their participation and commitment toserving the local.I would like to thank Danny, Wade and all those who were involved in getting usan un-heard of pension increase for this year. These men serve our local well bylooking out for us; not only in everyday situations, but planning for good pensionsand great healthcare long into our retirement. I know they work hard to provide thebest conditions for every member. The work outlook is great.
