<strong>2009</strong> MHCA SafetyProgram <strong>Report</strong>IntroductionThe <strong>Manitoba</strong> <strong>Heavy</strong> <strong>Construction</strong> <strong>Association</strong>’s Safety Program (MHCSP) provides assistanceto the heavy construction industry in <strong>Manitoba</strong> in the areas of training, site visits andinspections, technical and field assistance, and education and awareness relating to safety,health and environmental issues.The MHCSP team is made up of the following employees:• Stan Kruse, Safety Program Director• Elaine Alvis, Supervisor COR Program• Phil McDaniel, Safety Advisor• Denine Rodrigues, Safety Advisor• Greg Huff, Winter Roads Advisor• Heather MacLean, COR Training AdministratorMHCSP and its services are accessible to all of the 407/408 WCB industry code employersin <strong>Manitoba</strong>. This number currently totals approximately 1100 companies. MHCSP workswith the following <strong>Heavy</strong> <strong>Construction</strong> operations in <strong>Manitoba</strong>:• Roadwork• Sewer and Water• Pipeline <strong>Construction</strong>• Excavation Foundation• <strong>Construction</strong> Dams/Wharves• Under Water and Piling• Trenching and Drainage• Stone Crushing and Gravel• Equipment OperatorIn <strong>2009</strong>, the heavy construction total injury numbers have decreased in <strong>Manitoba</strong>. We will continue our mandate to reduceincidents within our industry. Efforts to revitalize our COR program continue in <strong>2009</strong>.The following report will outline a summary of MHCSP activities for <strong>2009</strong>.MHCSP Program Activities <strong>2009</strong>Stan Kruse,MHCA SafetyProgram DirectorThe MHCSP team has continued to experience increased demands for its services in <strong>2009</strong>.<strong>Construction</strong> Safety Officer — MHCSP continues its <strong>Construction</strong> Safety Officer (CSO) program as per the National CSOstandards adopted by the Canadian Federation of <strong>Construction</strong> Safety <strong>Association</strong>s.
