164which has been referred to as a go-TC, features the verb gå followed by anadverb, instead of vara and an adjective. The adverbs appearing in go-TCshave corresponding adjectival forms appearing in TCs. The adverb and adjectivemoreover seem to have the same function with respect to the infinitivalclause in the constructions.On closer inspection, however, it turns out the adverb in the go-TC differssyntactically from the adjective in the TC in not taking the infinitival clause ascomplement. In the go-TC, it is instead the verb gå that selects the infinitivalclause and licenses the adverb. The adjective and adverb, then, have quitedifferent syntactic status in the constructions. Furthermore, the verb in thego-TC is not simply a raising predicate. Instead, it shows all the relevantproperties of a tough-predicate.
