As you would know, the new Executive Committee of<strong>Crime</strong> <strong>Stoppers</strong> International took office on January1st 2013 and immediately set about charting a newcourse for the organization. Arising from these meetings, TheBank of Nova Scotia confirmed its intent to be a major sponsor forthe 2013 <strong>Crime</strong> <strong>Stoppers</strong> International Conference, and UnderwritersLaboratories articulated its commitment to collaborate with <strong>Crime</strong><strong>Stoppers</strong> in the areas of Intellectual Property crimes and the traffickingof counterfeit products.After leaving Toronto, the next stop was Atlanta, USA to meet with theExecutive Producer of CNN’s Special Projects Division. At this meeting,the CNN Freedom Project confirmed its willingness to have a workingagreement with <strong>Crime</strong> <strong>Stoppers</strong> whereby, television viewers will be<strong>Crime</strong> directed <strong>Stoppers</strong> to submit International tips on Human Trafficking anonymously to <strong>Crime</strong>Board <strong>Stoppers</strong> of Directors International via a secure online interface. It was agreed that


the two organizations would work towardsannouncing the collaboration at the 2013<strong>Crime</strong> <strong>Stoppers</strong> International Conference.Over the next few months, severalrelationships with global agencies wereestablished and rekindled due to the tirelessefforts of the Executive Committee.CNN Headquarters, Atlanta, USA.CSI Board of Directors.SPRING BOARD MEETINGThe Spring Board Meeting andStrategic Planning Workshopwhich was held from May 3 – 5that the Hilton Barbados, was anoverwhelming success. Facilitatedby our very own strategic planningexperts, the Board of Directors wasable to determine a new vision andmission, and moreso developedand approved a strategic frameworkwhich will guide the direction of ourorganization for the next 5 years.A decision was taken by the <strong>Crime</strong><strong>Stoppers</strong> International Board at theSpring Board Meeting to reducethe focus and reliance on fees,and in this regard, <strong>Crime</strong> <strong>Stoppers</strong>International is pleased to informALL <strong>Crime</strong> <strong>Stoppers</strong> programmesaround the world, that the paymentof fees to CSI has been dramaticallyreduced and now is a Regionalaffiliation payment.(Further details will soon bepublished on our website atHYPERLINK “http://www.csiworld.org”).In addition to the above, the CSIBoard also decided that <strong>Crime</strong><strong>Stoppers</strong> programmes whichare located in regions that arenot affiliated to <strong>Crime</strong> <strong>Stoppers</strong>International (CSI), can becomemembers of CSI without having topay an initial subscription fee.The doors of CSI are thereforewide open to all <strong>Crime</strong> <strong>Stoppers</strong>programmes that wish to join withus as we mobilize the world toreport crime anonymously.ISSUE #1 - JULY 2013A global publication of <strong>Crime</strong> <strong>Stoppers</strong> International


Over the last 9 months a number of<strong>Crime</strong> <strong>Stoppers</strong> programmes frommajor metropolitan cities withinthe United States, Italy, and anumber of Scandinavian countries,have approached <strong>Crime</strong> <strong>Stoppers</strong>International to enquire about thepossibility of them being able to beassociated with <strong>Crime</strong> <strong>Stoppers</strong>International. As arrangementswith these programmes are beingfinalized, the Board of <strong>Crime</strong><strong>Stoppers</strong> International has madeit clear that ALL <strong>Crime</strong> <strong>Stoppers</strong>programmes are eligible to attendthe <strong>Crime</strong> <strong>Stoppers</strong> InternationalConference. At this point, quitea few of these programmes haveembraced this opportunity.PARTNERSHIP WITH INTERPOLImmediately following the Spring Board Meeting and Strategic Planning workshop, a meeting was held with theDirector of Operational Police Support at INTERPOL, and several of INTERPOL’s sub-directorates. We are pleasedto advise that our Co-operation Agreement with INTERPOL is continuing, and discussions are currently underwayas to the support that <strong>Crime</strong> <strong>Stoppers</strong> will provide in the execution of several global initiatives.Interpol Headquarters,Lyon, FranceAlex Mac Donald, President of CSI, and MichaelO’Connell, Director of Operational PoliceSupport/INTERPOL.GLOBAL AWARDSWe take this opportunity to remind all <strong>Crime</strong> <strong>Stoppers</strong>programmes that the deadline for the submission ofentries to be judged for global awards is August 1st2013.
