Yet atjust a quarter of an inch thick, they are lighter than you ever thought possible. Knownas ‘the top that fits on top’, it’s a winning combination of strength and slimlinedimensions that has made Granite Transformations a household success around theworld. You see, unlike any other hard surface finish, our materials are made to fit rightonto existing worktops and tiles, bonding permanently to the original substrate.There’s little added depth, no need for ripping out the original surface, no necessityfor added reinforcement, as with heavy granite slab, and no builder’s waste fordisposal. Just a lastingly handsome, diamond-polished surface that is non-porous andresistant to heat, knocks, cuts and scratches. .............State-of-the-art surfaces................................We all know that granite and other natural stone is tough and good looking. Butis it flexible, easy to handle and will it survive the bowling ball drop test? Well noit won’t. Is it sufficiently slim and lightweight to fit neatly over other materialswithout reinforcement? Not without slicing it thin and sacrificing technicalperformance. That is why, instead, we blend genuine Italian granite withstate-of-the-art polymer resin for added strength and flexibility, then mould itinto large agglomerate slabs only ¼” (6.7mm) thick, with all the aesthetics ofstone and the performance of a composite. We do the same with naturalquartzite to create finer-grained materials and a lighter colour spectrum. Wewere also the first to combine recycled glass, usually from recovered beer,wine and mineral water bottles, with polymer technology, achieving tough,sparkling eco-chic surfaces. Seeing is believing and having reviewed the full selectionof finishing materials and replacement doors, then looked at a cutaway model of our unique ‘top thatfits on top’ concept, you will hopefully see why Granite Transformations is the makeover solutionfor you. Having chosen some candidate colours and materials, then previewed how they’ll look withour magical iGranite iPad app, the next step is for one of our consultants to visit your home andmeasure up. There’s no commitment at that stage, but we are confident that once you’ve beenquoted the price, you’ll appreciate the outstanding value and place an order. After that, our installersprepare full-size templates of all the fittings, then fabricate the worktops, doors or other makeoverelements off-site. That way you retain the familiarworking layout, also saving on replumbing and rewiring, and don’t need toconsign perfectly-serviceable cabinet carcases to the skip. When you figure thatforty per cent of the cost of a new fitted kitchen is represented by carcases andunderpinnings you don’t normally see, you’ll understand where the savings aremade. Much the same goes for demolishing ceramic bathroom tiles andwashbasin surrounds, which can be beautifully refaced instead.8
