<strong>Food</strong> Packaging StandardBRC IOPThe BRC Packaging Standard, developed by the British Retail Consortium(BRC) with the support of the Institute of Packaging and of the associationsrepresenting packaging manufacturers, aims to ensure the hygiene-healthsafety not only of packaging materials which come into contact with foodproducts but also of consumer products and secondary and tertiary packagingfor all uses.The Standard integrates the process and systemic requisites and requires:the adoption of a formal risk analysis system (HACCP)control of the production area, processes, product and personnel.UNI EN 15593:2008 - "Management of hygiene in the production ofpackaging for foodstuffs"The UNI EN 15593: 2008 Standard enables food packaging manufacturers topositively demonstrate their ability to manage and control hygiene risks relatedto their products.The Standard covers all hygiene management aspects relevant to theproduction of packaging and specifies the requirements also for their storageand transport.The Standard has been drawn up at European level to provide a reference toolfor the implementation of a hygiene management system widely acceptedthroughout the EU and which facilitates trade of packaging materials andpackaged food, thus promoting the free trade of goods.The aim of certification for BRC IOP and UNI EN 15593 is to:comply with good hygiene practices and applicable mandatoryrequirements;fulfill the requirements of EC regulation 2023/2006;demonstrate that all reasonable precautions have been taken to guaranteepackaging safety;communicate confidence throughout the supply chain;improve relations with the authorities in charge of food safety;integrate the requirements with other forms of certification.


For cultivation, breeding and production chains<strong>Certification</strong> of traceability in the feed and food chainISO 22005:2007To ensure controlled traceability management, both within the company and asregards the chain, in order to highlight the product’s origin and specialingredients and enhance characteristic features such as typicality,genuineness, geographical characterisation and/or of production.In the present legislative framework, it may represent and effective tool fortimely and safe recall of the product.<strong>Certification</strong> of traceability in agricultural food chainControlled chainProduct certification with double value, through control of hygienerequirements and enhancement of the product’s quality requirements.Thanks to traceability, throughout the defined chain, of the criticalrequirements for the purpose of quality and health safety, the consumer isassured a product of greater value in terms of salubrity and informationtransparency while traceability of requirements typical of the product or itsorigin makes it possible to protect the particular characteristics of the foodproduct, such as certain production traditions, specific ingredients, a specialgeographic area.


For agricultural enterprises and food industriesProduct certification with “NO GMO” requirementTo ensure management and monitoring of products with a risk of GMO(Genetically Modified Organism), through the drawing up of a specificationestablished by the producer and approved by RINA and an integrated chainapproach.It is normally applied to products such as maize, soya and their derivatives andmakes it possible to offer the end consumer a safe product from the GMO pointof view, as well as for any other health characteristics defined, inasmuch asthey are decisive for product safety.Product certification on a voluntary basis<strong>Certification</strong> of compliance of a product with respect to a specification drawnup by the client, according to the latter’s needs, and approved by RINA. Thecertified product can thus be identified by a special mark which makes it standout and gives it immediate visibility to the end consumer.Against a background of increasing attention to the health aspects of foodproducts and a product’s particular characteristics, such as origin, productiontechniques, ingredients, formulas, this instrument enables the consumer to beguaranteed a product which possesses the quality characteristics stated.


For catering<strong>Certification</strong> of systems for the prevention of hazards based on the HACCP methodUNI 10854:1999To bring the hygiene safety of food products under control by identifying thecritical points of the process and defining criteria to prevent, reduce oreliminate potential risks.The UNI 10854:1999 standard promotes integration of the HACCP methodwith the UNI EN ISO 9001 standard ensuring the company has control overthe production process and over the health aspects of production.“Bollino Blu” in cateringIt came into being through the signing of a specific protocol between theMinistry of Health and FIPE (Federazione Italiana Pubblici Esercizi diConfcommercio) and its goal is the certification of compliance of the companyand catering activities with a voluntary Standard on quality and hygiene,focusing on the critical areas of food safety within public facilities.In particular, the requirements concern three cornerstones: continuoustraining, service charter, observance of compliance with Good ManufacturingPractice (GMP).
