Wedding PugsNice day for a white wedding: Gary Chamberlain’s 1970404 with Mike Barrett’s ivory 1963 404 did the Pug communityproud and Michael and Lulu’s wedding in December.Michael Ellis, Victorian Car Club member and prolific attendee of theRendezvous 206 events, recently put out the feelers for some weddingcars, as his wedding was to be in Sydney. Eventually, some NSW clubbersanswered the call.Gary ChamberlainHere are a couple of photos& a brief snapshot of the eventsfrom Michael & Lulu’s wedding inSydney,— maybe a snippet for your next issue.All went well on the day — Mike Barrettwas noted topless at the bride’s house (beforethe wedding) — but that story is for another day.<strong>The</strong>y made it to the church on time, despitehaving to ford a number of roads in Mike’sFrench-built ’63 model, due to the heavystorms.Meanwhile the groom & best men traversedthe inner west en route to “Punch-a-bowla”with Michael Ellis providing excellent skillsdespite the nerves as intermittent wiper controland assistant navi-guesser in my ’70 model.We were early so a bit of circle work in thelocal streets ensued, as well as a spot of huntingthe Lebanese BBQ chicken for the starvingbest men.NOWALSO IN SYDNEYAlas, the chickens proved to be elusive...<strong>The</strong> 404s were spotted by a mob of youngLebanese lads at the church, who we heard asking“what size V8 does it have?” and providingcomments such as “I bet you can do good burnoutswith such skinny tyres”. Michael Ellishad remarked that “only cheap wine comes in4 ltrs”.<strong>The</strong> ceremony went off without a hitch: thebutterflies were set free, the pretty girls wereall gathered for pictures and the photographerssnapped<strong>The</strong> wedded couple and family retreated tothe big smoke with wipers flailing, respectivemothers in-law gibbering and horns a tootingfor an evening of marital bliss at the OperaHouse.I bet all Victorian club members wish theycould get such treatment in Sydney.Parts for Peugeot, Ren<strong>au</strong>lt, Citroën and Alfa RomeoCarrying the largest stock of parts for these marques in Australia.Club discount on production of current membership card.
