ReliableControls demonstrated BACnet ® over Ethernet andBACnet ® over MS/TP using three controllers: MACH-Global, MACH-Air, and MACH-Zone. Being the firstplugfest for Reliable Controls, many of the attendees weresurprised to witness how far Reliable had implemented theBACnet ® protocol and the ease with which the operatorcould navigate.Plugfest Vendor ParticipationYearVendors1998 4BACnet HIGHLIGHTSBenefits of BACnet ®Steven Bushby - the chair of the BACnet ® standard,provided an interesting update of the standardscommittee progress at the BIG-NA “BACnet ®Connected” Conference. Seven working groups arenow in progress to enhance and expand theBACnet ® protocol:1. Applications (AP-WG) - this workgroup dealswith general HVAC applications using theBACnet ® standard.2. Life Safety & Security (LSS-WG) - thisworkgroup is developing the standard toaccommodate this aspect of buildingautomation.3. Lighting Applications (LA-WG) - thisworkgroup deals with accommodating lightingwith BACnet ® .4. Objects and Services (OS-WG) - thisworkgroup handles all the low level andmiscellaneous aspects of the standard.5. Utility Integration (UI-WG) - this workgroup isinvestigating how to integrate the BACnet ®standards into Utilities.6. Network Security (NS-WG) - this workgroup isaddressing any security concerns raised whenusing the standard.7.
