Beforeour studies, only few data was available onsnout-beetles of this area, and these referred to only12 species (Ma r c u 1957, En d r ö d i 1960, Te o d o r e a-n u 1986). In 1999, Ko c s and Po d l u s s á n y, published83 Curculionoidea species from Rimetea, Buru andRuncului Gorges. Till now, we published of ourdata only those from „Scăriţa-Beloara” BotanicalReserve (Te o d o r and Cr i ş a n 1996) and from Poşaga-BelioaraValley area (Te o d o r et al. 2001), altogether106 species.Material and methodsThe snout-beetles were collected from differenthabitats in 22 locations between 1994-2006:Bistra Valley, Dobra Valley, Gârde, Lupşa, LupşaValley, Muncelu, Brăzeşti, between Brăzeşti andSălciua, between Băişoara Mountain and ScăriţaBelioara, Scăriţa Belioara, Poşaga-Belioara Valleyarea, “Muntele Mare” (Big Mountain), between“Muntele Mare” (Big Mountain) and BăişoaraMountain, Runcului Gorges, Ocoliş, Vidolm,Ocolişel, Lungeşti, Băişora Mountain, Filii Mountain,Rimetea, Buru (fig. 1).The following types of habitats were selectedfor sampling: spruce forests, mixed forests of coniferousand deciduous trees, pine forests, beech forests, mixed deciduous forests, coppices, limestonehabitats, sub-alpine meadow, mountain meadow, natural grasslands (hayfields and pastures) andweed associations.Location of sampling sites in the middle ArieşRiver basin (fig. 1):1.
