modernism, occasionally evoking the spirit of the 1940s New York Birdland. Set out to honor the integrityand capture what is the traditional spirit of jazz music, Phelps has composed and arranged songs with thisvision. He chose a stellar lineup consisting of a generational mix of London’s top jazz musicians.He currently tours with his eponymous quartet and is also committed to educating the next generation ofjazz musicians with a project entitled “Jazz Youth.”CHARLES ANGIAMA(Clarinet)Since working with Lionel Bart's Blitz Musical at the West End with the National Youth Theatre in the early1990s, Charles Angiama has been involved in the arts both as a musician and an actor. Musically, he hasworked with the likes of Florence Rawlings, Cerys Matthews and Mick Hucknall. His work can also be seenin numerous television projects and films such as My Week with Marilyn and 88. In theatre, he has acted inthe productions of “Othello,” “Someone Who'll Watch Over Me” and in a one-man show, “The Abolitionist.”OROH ANGIAMA(Bass)Oroh Angiama studied classical double bass and piano and is primarily known in the industry as a bassistand MD. He began singing in the choir of his local South East London Church Of England in the early1980s.His career has been a musical adventure acting as a sideman and musical director to international artistsincluding Sir Tom Jones, Corinne Bailey Rae, Katie Melua, Courtney Pine, NITIN Sawhney, Lianne LaHavas, Paloma Faith, Professor Green, Kid Creole and the Coconuts and Tulisa.He is currently MD to a five-piece resident house band at the Baroque Club situated in the heart of Mayfair,and he also composes music for media and artists.MILES BRETT(Tenor Sax)Miles Brett has played tenor saxophone since he was 14 years of age and has performed around the world.Currently, Brett is a busy freelance violinist and viola player, performing with many orchestras around thecountry including the Heritage Orchestra, London Contemporary Orchestra and the Urban Soul Orchestra.


With these ensembles and many more he has played in most of the large UK concert venues, includingThe O2 Arena and The Royal Albert Hall (BBC Proms).He has played many sessions at Abbey Roads Studios and other top recording venues with artists such asTim Minchin, Professor Green, Il Divo, Matt Cardle, Paloma Faith, Labrinth and Leona Lewis. As the leaderof the Koko Quartet, Brett has performed chamber music recitals around the country including a recentperformance for the First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama. The Koko Quartet also holds aresidency at Lords Cricket Ground and has created a jazz collaboration project with the Jay Phelps Quartetrecently at Kings Place. Brett is also involved in composing and arranging for various ensembles includingthe Urban Soul Orchestra.TREVOR EDWARDS(Trombone)Trevor Edwards has established his career over the last 30 years, as one of London's top tromboneplayers. His credits include performances with the ska legends, The Skatalites, as well as distinguishedartists such as Aswad, The Wailers, Boney M., Michael Prophet, Dennis Brown, Gregory Issacs, Lilly Allenand more.COSIMO KEITA(Drums)Cosimo Keita Cadore studied percussion and double bass at the Luigi Cherubini Music Conservatory in hishometown Florence, Italy. He continued to study music and drumming in New York, Los Angeles MusicianInstitute and at the Goldsmith’s College in London.As a musician, he has worked and performed with different artists and organizations including Shakira,Lionel Richie, Ricky Martin, Mariah Carey, Eddy Grant, London Philharmonic Orchestra, London SymphonyOrchestra, Celloman, Dee C Lee, Antonio Forcione, UNICEF, SGI, Nelly Furtado, Usher, Zucchero, UrbanSoul Orchestra, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Rambert Dance Company, Richard Alston DanceCompany, Greenwich Dance Agency, Elastic Theatre, Hawa Power, Maurizio Minardi, Michael Clark DanceCompany and the funk outfit Down To The Bones.


STEVE WILLIAMSON(Alto Sax)Steve Williamson is an English saxophonist and composer (tenor saxophone, soprano saxophone, altosaxophone, keyboard and composition). He played alongside Courtney Pine in Wembley Stadium at theNelson Mandela 70th Birthday Open Air Festival in 1988. He was a member of Louis Moholo's “Viva LaBlack” (1988) and of <strong>Chris</strong> McGregor's “Brotherhood of Breath” (1990). During the 1990s he led his ownband and appeared in projects of Iain Ballamy, Maceo Parker, Bheki Mseleku, Us3 and Graham Haynes.His album releases include “A Waltz for Grace with Verve” (1990), “Rhyme Time” (1992) and “Journey toTruth” (1994) which featured Cassandra Wilson.###
