POTENTATE’S MESSAGEHello Nobles and Ladies!If you missed the FallCeremonial in ElizabethCity, you missed a greattime! The Guys and Girlsfrom the Elizabeth CityShrine Club and Buccaneersworked tirelessly formonths in advance to puton a wonderful Ceremonialfor Sudan. The GolfTournament, the hospitality, the parade, the eveningevents, all went without even a bump in the road. Eventhe weather cooperated with lots of sunshine to quicklywarm those cool mornings.I must tell you just how much I have enjoyed servingSudan Shriners for the last nine years. I hear manyholding office make comments like “I only have 45 daysleft”. I have never wished my time on the Divan or asyour Potentate away. It has been a thrill and an honor.Something I looked forward to on a daily basis. Just apassing thought, a few short years ago became a dream,then a reality, and very soon now, a fond memory. Peggyand I have met so many great people and have acquiredlasting friendships. Thank you so very much for allowingme to serve you.I would like to thank the Divan officers, currentand past, that I served with for their advice and support.The office and temple staff has been exceptional.The clubs and units have been most supportive.And then there’s the Rocky Mount bunch. What agreat group of Nobles and Ladies. They “self imposed”the charge of putting on the best Spring Ceremonial inmemory and they did. I still receive compliments fromthe great time they showed everyone in May. ThanksRocky Mount! You’re the best and a model for all toemulate!What a wonderful organization. There is no otherorganization where the emphasis is on “FUN” and hassuch a dramatic effect on the lives of the children andfamilies that we serve. Peggy and I will never forget thesupport that you showed us after our house burned inJanuary 20121March 2010. I can equate the gratitude that we feltwith the gratitude that the mothers and fathers havewhen we reach out and help those kids in need. Thankyou for all you do to help support our 22 Shriners Hospitalsfor Children.I close now by thanking each of you once more,asking you to keep the excitement going and supportyour incoming 2012 leadership team as you have thisone. Helping with just one event, supporting one fundraiser,selling and buying one ticket, recommendingone child, when each of us does just one thing, we, asSudan Shriners accomplish great things.Thank you all for you love and support in 2011 andthanks for “Helping just 1 in Oh! one one”.By the time you read this, the Christmas holidaysand New Years celebrations will have passed.
