As the fluid level isdecreased there is an increased amount of vapor pulled into the pump. The vapor is vented back into the barrel orcompartment through the vent line/vapor relief valve (7-8). Once the fluid level reaches a preset level an electrical floatcensor (not shown) shuts off the pump. The check valve (9) will close and the fluid in the discharge head (6) column (5)and the pump (3-2-1) will fall into the barge/ship compartment. The pump will restart automatically should the waterlevel rise above the preset float level (1). This process can be repeated over and over.• Advantages: Very low NPSH inducer stage. Low maintenance.
