Certifire Approval.The Astroflame Intumescent Expansion JointSeal is manufactured using various thicknessof flame retardant open cellular foam.Expandable graphite based intumescent isfactory sprayed onto both sides of the foam,forming a compressible fire resistant jointfiller which is resistant to moisture attack.The graphite based material starts tointumesce around 180oC on the fire side ofthe joint whilst the fire rated foam graduallycompresses allowing the expanding mass ofintumescent graphite to totally seal theopening. This carbonaceous char formed bythe graphite will prevent the spread of firethrough the joint thus ensuring the integrityof the compartment wall/floor is maintained.Areas of UseBetween steelwork and blockwork wheredeflection and movement could occur inmovement joints with blockwork walls andfloors.
