For now, I am doing someresearch in my area to find some interesting places to detect here.Rick C., CaliforniaIt's not everyone who finds a coveted CSTongue. And, it's certainly not everyone whomanages to find one before his 7th birthday. But that is exactlywhat happened for Logan S."I found it in the back yard where you are digging for the fishpond," Logan answered when questioned by his Mom, Nina.Within the next few days Nina & Logan sifted the area behindtheir 1860's log home and discovered over a dozen buttons, some bullets, and a few coins - all without a metal detector. Butthat was soon to change. Nina visited her local metal detectordealer and was soon the owner of a new White's XLT. With thisnew addition to their arsenal Nina and Logan began a thoroughsearch of the area. They were rewarded with a vast assortment ofrelics, some predating the Civil War. The Mother & Son teamwent on to unearth many interesting items from the early 1700'sright up to the mid-1900's.Logan has recently received his own brand new Classic IIdetector. I had beendetecting in a friend's cherry orchard and showed him thering the next day. The initials were N.S.T. and after a fewmoments he said that his mother's initials were N.S.T. She isstill alive and will be 88 this summer. He talked with herabout the ring and she said that she had given it to herfiancee in the spring of 1936 after she had received anengagement ring from him. He lost it later that summerwhile working in the orchard. She said that she was nothappy with him for losing it, since she had saved all herearnings to pay for it. This was during the depression whenjobs and money were hard to come by.The ring had been in the orchard for 68 years and hadbeen damaged by farming equipment. I had a jewelerstraighten and solder it together and it looked brand newwhen I returned it to her a week later. She was amazed thering was ever found and surprised at how nice it looks. Shenow wears it on her finger after 68 years of being lost.Lloyd, New York
I had contemplated and researched buying a metal detector forover a year. Last month, I decided on a White MXT afterbeing able to talk to your New England distributor, by simplydialing the 800 number - on a Saturday no less! The secondtime out with this device, I found the gold shown in the vial. The third time out, the impressive quartz with gold was found!!This piece could only have been found with a metal detector. Iactually had tossed the piece to the wayside while searching forthe target. Once I realized the target was gone, I simply usedthe MXT to find it again, in the water behind me.Bill M.I bought a Whites MXT as a gift for my wife, who has beenbegging me for a metal detector for a few years. Well, our firstouting was to the beach. She asked me to set the controlknobs and try it first (since I had read the instructionmanual). Less than 2 minutes later I made an "X" in the sandand told her to dig our first hole. She pulled out a gold ring! Can you believe it? The first "hit" we got was a gold ring onour first day with the metal detector. We also pulled out ahandful of coins and an earring. Pretty cool. The detector wasfor my wife, but now I'm the one who's hooked!Ben C., CaliforniaI'm only 38 years old but have 2 herniated disks in mylower back. I was given the detector to help me get outmore. Today I'm doing active things with my children thatwere considered impossible 2 years ago. I truly believe this hobby hassaved my life. This was my first year detecting. I got my detector, a Whites XLT®, inApril and only detected local parks until July, when I moved into a 230year old house. Then the cool finds started happening. In the summer, Igot my first silver dollar hit with the detector. Instead of getting a silverdollar I found something much better, a Silver Colonial shoe buckle. Here is an excerpt of a letter I received from a museum curator:"Dear John, In reference to your colonial shoe buckle. It was made by Christopher Hughes,Baltimore Maryland. ca. 1771, partnered with John Corman in 1774. Married a Peggy Sandersonin 1779, and if you can find it, he had a portrait of himself painted by a Charles Wilson Peale, youcan see the face of the guy who made your buckle. Nice Find. He was a pretty important guy and Ifound a single spoon made by him going at almost $1,200. A buckle would more than likely fetchmuch more.”John, PennsylvaniaJust wanted to share the gold nugget I foundusing my brand new MXT detector and theWhites probe.
