I know that I will give my all for thechance to do my country proud.STEVE OBBAYI, Climber, Expedition EverestAn incredible mission for an inspirational cause thatchanges lives. I so admire the team’s courage andtenacity, their desire to make a difference and risktheir all in the effortBEAR GRYLLS, Adventurer & TV HostExpedition Everest is a campaign to get Steve Obbayi to the summit of Mount Everest. If successful, Steve will be thefirst Kenyan to reach the top of the world’s highest mountain. This expedition is dedicated to those unsung heroes.Expedition Everest is incredibly proud to be partnering with Toilet Hackers. Nearly 40 percent of humanity existswithout access to sanitation or toilets and Toilet Hackers is determined to address this gross injustice. Its mission isto bring together organizations and thought leaders to disrupt the space, and to re-imagine and implement solutionsto the sanitation crisis. As part of its drive to create massive public awareness, Toilet Hackers is running the“Do Epic Shit” campaign: extraordinary people taking on extraordinary challenges, all in the name of sanitation.Expedition Everest will be leading the charge. An attempt to summit Mount Everest represents much that is admirable in human nature and highlights severalqualities – ambition, determination, selflessness, and courage – that are critical to both individual and corporatesuccess. The narrative that can be created by association with Expedition Everest is compelling, and will providea graphic and gripping demonstration of corporate goodwill to all key stakeholders.Expedition Everest offers a wide range of sponsorship opportunities that allow for both financial and in-kindsupport. This sponsorship packet outlines the tiers of sponsorship available. These tiers represent the startingpoint for discussions, and we will work with sponsors to customize packages. Everest represents an immense challenge. I know that I willhave to give everything I have - physically, mentally andspiritually - in order to summit. I am prepared to do that.STEVE OBBAYISteve ObbayiSteve Obbayi, 39, will be the first Kenyan to attempt Mount Everest. One half of the Expedition Everest team,Obbayi will tackle the mountain with fellow climber and Expedition Everest founder Toby Storie-Pugh.The pair will raise awareness for global sanitation issues as they train for the ascent by leading theToilet Hackers’ Do Epic Shit campaign.Obbayi began climbing in 1993 and has experience on mountains in East Africa, including Mt. Kilimanjaro,Mt. Kilimambogo, Mt. Longonot and the Aberdare Range. He summited Mt. Kenya, the tallest peak in Kenyaat 17,057 feet, during the Expedition Everest team selection process. He was one of nearly 250 climbers to tryout for the team.Obbayi’s tenacity and spirit shone through during the Mount Kenya climb. He credits his mother for instillingthose traits in him, and for teaching him to fight for anything he wanted to achieve. Obbayi hopes to serveas a role model to children in Kenya so that they too will follow their passions and fulfill their dreams.07 | Kenyan Everest Expedition 2014expeditioneverest.org

We hope that our children will do great things in life. I want thisexpedition to the world’s highest mountain to show them thatthere is no goal beyond their reach, so long as they have thecourage to dream freely.TOBY STORIE-PUGHToby Storie-PughBorn and raised in the UK, Toby, 37, understood at a young age the importance of seeking out adventure and creating his ownpath in life. A lifelong adventurer, Toby has traveled throughout the world by motorbike, jeep, and by foot. Toby is a passionateoverland traveler and has motorcycled from Nepal to the UK, and from the UK to South Africa and back. A heady mix of enthusiasmand determination made up for his minimal preparation, training and budgetToby’s road to Everest began nine years ago while training in the hills of Northern India. He saw firsthand the incredible potentialthat existed in children from even the most desperate backgrounds, along with their desire to learn and their desire, aboveall,to see change. In 2008, Toby co-founded Flying Kites, a children’s home in the hills outside Nairobi, having spent timevolunteering in Nairobi’s slums. The motivation was to start an organization that would not just house children, but also givethem genuine opportunities. The Flying Kites Leadership Academy is based in the beautiful Aberdare Mountains – about ninetyminutes from Nairobi – and provides education opportunities to orphaned and destitute children from the area.Inspired by his love of Kenya, and of Africa, Toby founded Expedition Everest in early 2012. He has taken a two year sabbaticalfrom Flying Kites to allow him to focus on running the Expedition. Toby has intertwined his need to affect positive change inthe world with his drive to see adventure. Realizing what an incredible privilege it is to be able to venture regularly into thehills, and to what a degree climbing allows him to express himself, climbing has evolved from something that he enjoyed asa simple adventure into something where he seeks his peace. However, Toby’s greatest motivation for doing this expedition is to inspire others to live their lives with a sense of adventure.Resist the pressure to be ordinary, and have the belief that whatever your Everest may be, with the right attitude,it is achievable.09 | Kenyan Everest Expedition 2014expeditioneverest.org

The CauseToilet Hackers & Expedition Everest:Together, Dreaming the Impossible Dream2.5 billion people do not have access to sanitation.Since 2003, diarrhea has killed more children than allthe people lost to armed conflict since World War ll.90 percent of all deaths in children under five arecaused by diarrheal diseases“We believe that every child should live past their first birthday, every person shouldhave clean water to drink, and that 100 percent of humanity should have access toimproved sanitation and good hygiene. Clean water, improved sanitation, and hygieneare basic human rights—together we can make sure those rights are given to everyone. ”We are NOT OK with this.—John Kluge Jr., Founder of Toilet Hackers11 | The Causeexpeditioneverest.org

WARRIORRUNMY FIRSTMARATHONCLIMBKILIMANJAROCLIMBEVERESTBIKE ACROSSAMERICATREK TOEVERESTBASE CAMPQUITSMOKINGDo Epic Sh*tWe do not underestimate the scale of the challenge that faces us. To achieve the goal of sanitation for all isgoing to mean some Epic People are going to have to do some Epic Shit. The wild ones, the dreamers, the disrupters, the radicals and the rebels are going to have to stand up and be counted. We know that we will only win this battle if we can draw people together and inspire them to unite in acommon cause. We have to find those brave souls who refuse to accept the inequities that they see in theworld and who are willing to take on stupendous personal challenges to rally supporters to our mission.Expedition Everest is taking the lead in this campaign. Steve is going to climb the highest mountain in theworld, plant a Toilet Hackers flag on the summit, and declare that this generation - our generation - will bethe one to ensure sanitation for all.Launching Fall 2013.13 | The Causeexpeditioneverest.org

AdvenchaThere is no certainty. There is only adventure.Expedition Everest is a way for Steve and Toby to demonstrate the value and power of challenging one’s own perceptionsof what is possible, or impossible. Toby created the travel company, Advencha (www.advencha.com) initiallyas a way to help raise the budget for the expedition, but also as a way for others to viscerally understand the stateof mind that they seek when they climb.Advencha is offering two amazing international trips - a climb of Kilimanjaro and a trek into Everest Base Camp. There is a special Everest Base Camp trek in March 2014 which will accompany Steve and Toby as they walk intobase camp to begin our climb up Everest.Adventure has shaped Toby’s life and opened his eyes to the incredible opportunities which exist if one dares toventure into the unknown. He has learned so much about himself while under duress, often alone and afraid. He is not sure who he would be had he not set out on those journeys, and he owes much to those who helpedhim take the first tentative steps.Toby considers it his great privilege to help others make their initial forays into a life of adventure. The senseof achievement on reaching the summit of Kilimanjaro or making it to Everest Base Camp is unparalleled. The pleasure of overcoming seemingly insurmountable obstacles remains with you long after the return home. All of those who sign up for an international Advencha trip before March 2014 will be considered Expedition EverestBase Camp Sponsors. Corporate groups are welcome; individual members will be considered base camp sponsors, and the organizing firm a corporate sponsor.
