Thula S'thandwaThula S’thandwa is a traditional Zulu lullaby. Nick Page has arranged this with threesimple variations. In his own words, “The piece begins with a Mozartian settingfollowed by a two against three pattern in the piano that is based on the mbira (thumbpiano) music of Zimbabwe. The ending quotes the “Rock-a-bye Baby” theme”. 1Translation and pronunciationThe lullaby is first sung in Zulu, then English. Nick Page has included a singingtranslation of this piece in the arrangement. A word-for-word translation has been a bitmore problematic. I have been able to do some translation using an online dictionary(http://isizulu.net/).
