2Together, sharing all of Christ with all of creationAsunrise inIndonesia wheretranslators have gathered for twoweeks of training and reflection signalsthe beginning of a typical Sunday morning. ForMennonite Mission Network ministries in more than 55countries all over the world, every program, every project, every prayer is firmly grounded in our faith. Thus we beginour look at ministries that take our workers and volunteersfrom worship into the marketplace in every time zone, fromeast to west, from the rising of the sun to its setting. And who better to tell the stories than those who carryout these daily tasks in the Mission Network’s behalf? Wechose a typical 48-hour period — from sunup on Sunday,Jan. 23, 2005, to sundown on Monday, Jan. 24 — andasked them to show in pictures and brief descriptions whatthose two days were like.Obviously, in any 48-hour period, we can’t tell thewhole story. Within the past year, we sent 33 new peopleinto international ministries assignments. Our ChristianService programs welcomed 3,292 participants into newand existing ministries of partner churches and organizations.More than 80 Mennonite Church USA congregationscurrently lead and support mission partnerships.Eight new support networks were launched, in which some183 congregations provided $850,000 in financial supportwithin the context of a direct relationship with missionworkers. More than 300 prayer partners lifted up missionworkers each day in prayer. We rejoice, also, to hear reportsof successful ministries such as:• New opportunities for teaching the Anabaptist perspectivein a post-Christendom European culture• A health clinic in Kathmandu, Nepal, opened by achurch for impoverished clients• A storefront ministry in Macau that works to helprestore broken families• African-Initiated Churches in South Africa that areleading efforts to minister to people living with AIDS• 25 new baptisms in Burkina Faso that are the result ofa rapid growth of Christian congregations in the area. What you will see here, therefore, will be a few compellingimages of our workers and partners — glimpsesinto the human drama that unfolds each day in our vastnetwork. Stories gleaned from our workers throughout theyear provide a few more details. Be sure to check out theweb links you’ll find scattered throughout these pages formore information about our ministries and programs.p h ot og all eri eGo deeper.
