(B,L)Day 6 • Wednesday Río pacaya / pacaya-Samiria ReserveOnce we reach the reserve’s second checkpoint, wehike around the ranger station to explore the igapó(seasonally flooded forest). Lucky guests may releaseturtle hatchlings. On an afternoon excursion we search forscarlet macaws, hoatzins, black-collared hawks andred howler monkeys. (B,L,D)Day 7 • Thursday Río Ucayali / pacaya-Samiria ReserveLearn about the lives of the Ribereño people as we visita village perched on the riverbanks. This is a fantasticopportunity to stroll through their gardens learning aboutmedicinal plants from the village shaman, visit a school orjoin in a game of soccer. After a Paso Fino horse showat Wayra Ranch, continue across the valley toward Cusco.We stop at Sacsayhuamán — a huge fortress of massivestones which zigzags across the side of the mountain.Spend two nights at the Aranwa Hotel.
