Identify<strong>in</strong>g and recogniz<strong>in</strong>g theseemployers of choice is a jo<strong>in</strong>t effort of several<strong>Kentucky</strong> partners led by the <strong>Kentucky</strong> SHRM StateCouncil and the <strong>Kentucky</strong> Chamber of Commercealong with <strong>Best</strong> Companies Group.The goal of the <strong>Best</strong> <strong>Places</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>Work</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>Kentucky</strong> is <strong>to</strong>raise the bar among our state’s employers, creat<strong>in</strong>ga level of excellence and employee satisfaction <strong>in</strong> theworkplace that will attract talented people now and <strong>in</strong>the future.The program is open <strong>to</strong> all publicly or privately heldorganizations, for-profi t and not-for-profi t alike. To beeligible for consideration, companies must have atleast 25 employees work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> <strong>Kentucky</strong>.The <strong>Best</strong> <strong>Places</strong> <strong>to</strong> <strong>Work</strong> <strong>in</strong> <strong>Kentucky</strong> survey processwas managed by <strong>Best</strong> Companies Group, whoevaluated the data collected from the participat<strong>in</strong>gcompanies and determ<strong>in</strong>ed the fi nal rank<strong>in</strong>gs.Part one of the assessment (three-quarters of eachcompany’s score) consisted of a confi dential employeesurvey (81 questions) used <strong>to</strong> evaluate the employees’workplace experience. Part two of the assessment(one-quarter of each company’s score) consisted of anemployer survey <strong>in</strong> which <strong>in</strong>formation was collectedabout each company’s benefi ts, policies, practicesand other general <strong>in</strong>formation. The two comb<strong>in</strong>edassessments allowed the experts at <strong>Best</strong> CompaniesGroup <strong>to</strong> provide an <strong>in</strong>-depth analysis of the strengthsand opportunities that exist <strong>in</strong> each company <strong>to</strong> build abetter workplace.Each company that participated received anAssessment F<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>gs Report summariz<strong>in</strong>g theemployee data collected. This report is each company’s“report card.” Not only is it rich with <strong>in</strong>formation abouthow the employees feel, it also <strong>in</strong>cludes averagedbenchmark<strong>in</strong>g data from the companies that made thelist <strong>in</strong> <strong>Kentucky</strong>. In addition, companies were <strong>in</strong>vited <strong>to</strong>spend 30 m<strong>in</strong>utes with one of <strong>Best</strong> Companies Group’sanalysts <strong>to</strong> review their results.
