New FacesOncology Hematology Associates welcomed a newoncologist to their practice on July 1. Dr. Jiantao Ding(pictured left) earned hismedical degree at thePeking Union MedicalCollege in Beijing, China.His internship, residencyand medical oncology/hematology fellowship werecompleted at the Universityof Texas SouthwesternMedical <strong>Center</strong> in Dallas.He also served as a researchscientist for two year. Dr.Ding is board certified ininternal medicine, medicaloncology and hematology.20 Most Influential WomenMarilyn Bauer, directorof <strong>Cancer</strong> Research forthe Ozarks, was selectedas one of <strong>Springfield</strong>Business Journal’s <strong>2010</strong>Most Influential Women.Each year, 20 women arehonored for improving thesouthwest Missouri business,civic and philanthropiccommunities. This year’s 20Most Influential Women willbe recognized at a Sept. 24luncheon at the University Plaza Hotel. Congratulations,Marilyn!Top 40 Under 40Tyler Hedden, Vice-President of Clinical Services,was honored as one of<strong>Springfield</strong> Business Journal’sTop 40 Under 40, class of<strong>2010</strong>. This award is designedto honor up-and-comingyoung professionals for theirprofessional achievements,community endeavors andleadership capabilities. Thisyear’s class was chosen byan independent panel ofjudges from among a pool of more than 100 nominees.Tyler was honored at a ceremony in May. Ding andBroduer!Patient Education Update• <strong>Hulston</strong> <strong>Cancer</strong> <strong>Center</strong> will host the Gynecological<strong>Cancer</strong> Patient Education Program on Thursday,September 9 at 4:30 p.m. in the Dogwood Room.Participants will hear an inspirational talk from agynecological cancer survivor and learn about themost recent treatment updates for GYN cancersfrom a medical professional. Light dinner will beserved. No fee, but registration is required bySeptember 6. Call 269-5224.Professional Education Update• The “Putting Passion Back in Performance”seminar will be held Friday, September 10 from1-3:45 p.m. in Foster Auditorium. Nurses and alliedhealth from all care settings are encouraged toattend. Selinza Mitchell, a clinical nurse educatorand well-known national speaker, will inspireattendees to care for patients and co-workers likenever before. Registration is $15 for <strong>CoxHealth</strong>employees and $30 for non-<strong>CoxHealth</strong> employeesand physicians. For HCC staff who are unable toattend the seminar, a special session will be heldfrom 4:45-5:45 p.m. on September 10 in theDogwood Room. This free presentation is intendedfor all HCC employees.
