EventsThe Annual Cornfest<strong>Ceramics</strong> Student, Michael Magnussen,On a beautiful fall day in September, we welcomedstudents, faculty and staff back to school with the <strong>Ceramics</strong>Cornfest. Over 12 dozen fresh cobs of corn wereoffered to all who came by.Fundraiser for NCECA TripIn November, the <strong>Ceramics</strong> Students Associationfor a held a fund-raiser to travel to the NCECAconference to be held in Philadelphia in March2010. NCECA, the National Council for Educationon the Ceramic <strong>Arts</strong>, conference is an opportunityto see numerous exhibitions of contemporaryceramic art, to attend workshops, lectures and paneldiscussions on Aesthetics and Critical Theory, ArtHistory, Education, Professionalism, Technology,and new work. Fourteen <strong>Concordia</strong> students planto attend the conference. These students created 400cups which brought in over $2500. This money will beused to cover the conference registration fee and someof the travel expenses for all of the students. Thanksto everyone who supported them by purchasing thecups. Special thanks to Student Association presidentLana Jamieson, who coordinated the event and to<strong>Ceramics</strong> faculty members Diane Brouillette andLinda Swanson who helped with the fund-raiser. Her workwas featured in Amy Gogarty's presentationentitled <strong>Ceramics</strong> and Dissolution: Toward the Zero


of Form at the 2009 Universities Art Association ofCanada Conference. Recent issue #78 of <strong>Ceramics</strong>Art & Perception included her work in the articleentitled <strong>Ceramics</strong> Pluralism: Diversity of Practice andthe Role of Criticism by Glen R. The collagraph circulated inSeattle, and Regina. It is now in Montreal and will bein Buffalo for the month of February.
