About MeWelcome to My Catalog!Howland ToolsOver our years of gardening, woods work, and land maintenance, we have often beenfrustrated by the low quality and poor design of the majority of hand tools commonly available.Many of these are so poorly designed that they make doing work by hand seem an unreasonabletask, in addition, they wear out to quickly.We discovered that there are still a few manufacturers in Europe and in the US thatmake tools of a very high quality and excellent design. In Europe, hand tools have remainedeconomically important for far longer than in the United States, partly due to the persistence ofsmaller farms. This means that these tools have been designed and manufactured for peoplewhose livelihoods depend on their use. Many of these companies have been in business forhundreds of years. The results are tools that have the potential to last more than a lifetime, anddo their job well all the while.We want to make these tools available to gardeners and small farmers, so that they tocan see the potential of hand tools. Though the price tag on these tools is sometimes higherthan similar tools found at hardware stores, we believe they will save you money and energy inthe long run, and certainly hassle. Most of these tools are easily to re-handled and resharpenedextending the life of the tool.
