Inisheer has performed with suchnationally and internationally renownedmusicians as the Battlefield Band, SusanMcKeown, Greenwich Meantime and theGlengarry Bhoys and at places such as theRemsen Barn Festival and the Great AmericanIrish Festival in UUtica.Inisheer performs regularly at many ofthe Great Camps, lodges and vacationhomes in the Adirondacks. The band won the 2009SAMMY award in the international categoryfor its latest CD, “Reflection.”Formed in 1978 by lead accordionist FredScherz Sr., and his 8-year old son, Fritz, forwhom the band was named, Fritz’s PolkaBand performs a mix including modernpolka, country, foxtrot and waltz.It is the first polka band <strong>to</strong> perform at aWoods<strong>to</strong>ck festival, at the state fair in Syracuseand at B.B. King’s Blues Club, the ChinaClub and, recently, the MetropolitanClub, all in New York City.The band has performed with “Canada’sPolka King,” three-time Grammy winnerWalter Ostanek; “America’s Polka King,” thelate Frank Yankovic, another Grammy winner;Grammy nominee LynnMarie Rink andGlen Burtnik. Fritz’s has also performed withSteve Augeri, former lead singer of Journey,and opened for Grammy winners Jimmy Stiffand BeauSoleil. The band’s 17 recordingshave achieved international airplay. Theband even appears on “The ManchurianCandidate” DVD, from Paramount Pictures.In addition <strong>to</strong> Mr. Scherz on piano, accordion,but<strong>to</strong>n-box accordion and vocals,members are Gabe Vaccaro on bassguitar, guitar, and vocals; Tom Campbellon guitar and vocals; Frank Nelson, guitarand vocals and Mike Faraino on drums.
