Most of the antics revolved around Judy and her circle of friends especiallyher boyfriend, Oogie Pringle and her best girlfriend, Mitzi Hoffman. There wasstereotypical mis-communication between Judy and her parents that left Mr.and Mrs. Foster sometimes amused and often bewildered.OPENING:The announcer stated in the opening of many episodes, "Judy Foster, theloveable teenage girl who is close to all our hearts."Many episodes opened with a telephone conversation involving the centralcharacter, Judy Foster and Oogie or one of her girlfriends or a member of theFoster family.CAST AND CREW:Cast:Judy Foster teenage daughter played by Ann Gillis (1941), Dellie Ellis(1942), Louise Erickson (1943 – 1950) and Jane Powell andJane Webb (1 episode each in 1947).Melvin Foster Judy's Father played by Paul McGrath, Stanley Farrar,Joseph Kearns, John Brown, and Ken Christy.Randolph Foster Judy's Brother played by Dix Davis, Tommy Bond, TommyCook, and Johnny McGovern.Dora Foster Judy's Mother played by Margaret Brayton, Georgia Backus,Bea Benadaret, Myra Marsh and Lois Corbett.Oogie Pringle Judy's boyfriend played by Richard Crenna, Scott Elliott, and Henry Harvey.GloriaMitzi HoffmanJudy's friend played by Lurene Tuttle.Judy's friend played by Louise Erickson, Sandra Gould andothers.Guest Stars:Several of the early 1945 episodes had prominent guest stars: Joseph Cotten,Frank, Sinatra, Jimmy Durante, Dorothy Lamour, Charles Boyer, and AlPearce.CREW:Creator:Producers:Directors:Writers:Announcers:Music:Aleen Leslie.Tom McAvity, David Elton, and Helen Mack.Tom McAvity, David Elton, and Helen Mack.Aleen Leslie, John Elliotte, Jerry Schwartz, and JeromeLawrence.Art Baker, Ken Niles, Doug Gourlay, Marvin Miller, RalphLangley, and others.Wilbur Hatch, Felix Mills, Constantin Bakleinhoff, CharlesCornell, Thomas Peluso, Basil Adlam, Gordon Jenkins, HalBorne, Gordon Kibbee, and Paul Sawtell.LOG:All Broadcast Dates, and Titles are from the Series Scripts. When everpossible, Broadcast Dates, and Titles have been verified using other sources.October 31, 2013 Page 2 of 14

All broadcast times are for the Eastern Time Zone.Re-Use of Previously Aired Scripts:At least 47 scripts were reused on the series. Over three-quarters of thescripts from the three Summer Replacement runs were later reused. Roughly athird of the thirty episodes of the ABC run utilized previously used scripts.NOTE: These were New Productions of Previously Used Scripts and were NOTRebroadcasts of Previously Recorded Electronic Transcriptions.Episode Titles:As with many radio series, episode titles were not mentioned during thebroadcast. Collectors have made up their own titles; some episodes have morethan a half dozen collector-assigned titles. Additionally, Armed Forces RadioService assigned plot line-related titles when they ran parts of the series. This log uses episode titles from the scripts. Each episode title, no matterhow short, has a direct relationship to its episode plot line.Episodes in Circulation and Correcting Episode Titles and Dates:Due to the efforts of Old-Time Radio collector/dealer, Jerry Haendiges, avery large number of A Date With Judy episodes have recently come intocirculation with many more to follow. Jerry and I have compared our primarysource episode information to ensure that the episodes are correctly dated andtitled. We have listened to each of the shows in common circulation anddetermined their correct title and broadcast date. (Whenever possible,Broadcast Dates and Titles have been verified using both Primary andSecondary Sources.)Most episodes from other sources were incorrectly titled and some also areundated or incorrectly dated. In this log, common collector-assigned titles arelisted following the actual titles in a San Serif Font.Episodes that are currently known to be in circulation are highlighted.Lack of Consecutive Episode Numbers:A Date With Judy had five distinct segments:three Summer Replacement runs on NBC,a lengthy extended run on NBC, anda 30 episode run on ABC.Each segment had its own script episode numbering sequence. Therefore, noconsecutive episode numbers are listed in this log.End Date of Series:The New York Times lists A Date With Judy as airing on 05/11/1950,05/18/1950, & 05/25/1950; the Los Angeles Times and Washington Post donot have listings for these dates. As there are No Scripts after 05/04/1950 andother major newspapers consulted have no listings for the series after thatdate, I believe that the New York Times radio listings are in error and that thefinal episode of A Date With Judy was broadcast on 05/04/1950.October 31, 2013 Page 3 of 14
