The Convoy software is highly distributed; components on multiple deliveryservers perform many ’heavy lifting’ functions including calculating asset popularity, load and logging adaptive streaming statistics. Only aggregated reports are collectedand processed centrally by Convoy, making it very ’light weight’ and massively scalable, even when processing business analytics for millions of concurrent devices in real-time toenable service adjustment and maintenance of Quality of Experience. The Convoy Management Software provides centralized configuration of multiple, hierarchical levels of Delivery Servers including real-time, dynamic management ofstreaming licenses and any premium applications. Open APIs for network operatorsand multiple content customers enable easy and rapid integration with content management, middleware and OSS / BSS systems. The following, system-wide services arealso included as standard:Key Benefits:• System-wide servicearchitecture and licensing• Real-time monitoring anddynamic service adjustment• Highly distributed architectureenables instantscalability• Pay-as-you-go licensingof premium applicationsfor new services• Open integrator applicationframework• Content Management: Ingest of any content source from your own Live TV andVOD equipment to 3rd party OTT origin servers.• Monitoring: highly optimized collection and aggregation of network and streamingstatistics for both the content provider and the network operator.• Session management: Session authentication and re-distribution to the most suitabledelivery server including load, availability, content and network topology or proximity.Premium Applications can be instantly purchased and enabled via license keys without anydisruption in service. It comprises of the following components which can all beinstalled on a standard Linux machine or can be installed on separatemachines for scale:The Management Software handles content managementand provides an Account API (1) for customers to the VDN. Contentthat is uploaded to the VDN is pushed to and stored on originservers if included (2), or storage systems that are connectedto these origin servers. Live content is set up via the Account APIand pushed directly to the origin servers (3) by live encoders. The video servers will fetch both live and VOD content fromorigin servers (4). In larger installations the video server consultsOrdering Informationthe Content Router for selection of an origin server. Such requestsare made by video servers when they are asked to stream contentthat isn’t available in local cache. The content router performs loadbalancing over origin servers and monitors their health. The Statistics Backend collects data (5) from the video serversand stores it in an optimized way for quick access by themanagement software. The Request Router receives streaming requests from clientsand redirects them to a video server (7) that will deliver the video. The request router constantly monitors the health and connectivityof video servers (6) to make sure that a client will notbe redirected to a video server that cannot deliver the content. The Convoy Management Software requires a base license for each system. Each standard and premium service requires an additionallicense. Standard and premium services are licensed per delivery server used by the service. Combinations of services can beordered as pre-defined bundles (see price list for more information).Standard servicesContent ManagementMonitoringSession ManagementPremium servicesTime-Shift TVContent-AwareClusteringContent AnalyticsOrigin SelectorMulti-TennantIngest of any content source from your own Live TV and VOD equipment to 3rd party OTT origin servers.Highly optimized collection and aggregation of network and streaming statistics for both the contentprovider and the network operator.Session authentication and re-distribution to the most suitable delivery server including load, availability, content and network topology or proximity.Instant recording and play out of live Adaptive Bit Rate (ABR) streams in the network.Provides options to intelligently distribute content and client requests over multiple Delivery Servers, effectively combining their storage and the cache hit rate.Aggregation and presentation of delivery statistics reports in real-time providing intelligence by VDNaccount, content, device, region and network node.Provides content-aware load balancing and redundancy over a group of origin serversEnables multiple content providers to publish and manage content on the VDNContactwww.edgeware.tvGlobal SalesEdgeware AB, HQMäster Samuelsgatan 56SE-111 21 Stockholm, Sweden+46 736 126 840sales@edgeware.tvSales AmericasEdgeware, Inc.1300 Massachusetts Ave., Suite 215Boxborough, MA 01719, USA+1 408 490 1200sales_americas@edgeware.tv
