The student will learn to performat <strong>the</strong> Technician Level as specified in NFPA 1670, Standard on Operations and Trainingfor Technical Search and Rescue Incidents, Chapters 8 and 12..Pre-requisites: Vehicle and Machinery Rescue Level 1 or Vehicle Machinery Search &Rescue OpsFull turnout gear with eye protection202) Rescue with your ToolsInstructor- Louie Robinson Ret. Capt.- South Charleston Fire Dept.This 2 day course covers some of <strong>the</strong> skills used since <strong>the</strong> 1950’s by firefighters to performrescue with minimal equipment. 209) Public Information Officer (PIO)Instructor-Rudi Raines Kidder—Executive Director, WV Sheriff’s <strong>Association</strong>This course will fine-tune your public relations job skills. Through individual and groupactivities, students will develop and practice communication skills and identify ways tointegrate all phases of emergency management into a comprehensive public informationprogram.Pre-requisites: None210) Street Smart CombativesInstructor– Ernie Boggs, Steve Lusher & TJ DillonThis class is open to police, fire, or EMS personnel. The student will learn basic selfdefensetechniques in order to neutralize and control a combative individual. The course will cover <strong>the</strong> components of a lab,<strong>the</strong> processes involved, and <strong>the</strong> hazards associated.Pre-requisites: NoneClass Limit 25102) HealthNet LZ ManagementInstructor-HealthNet StaffThe Landing Zone management class teaches <strong>the</strong> responders on <strong>the</strong> ground to recognizewea<strong>the</strong>r issues, landing area issues, ie, size, gradient, surface, overhead obstaclesand give a proper report of same.
