<strong>HESI</strong> <strong>A2</strong><strong>Evolve</strong> <strong>Reach</strong> <strong>Admission</strong> <strong>Assessment</strong> <strong>Exam</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Nursing</strong>What is the <strong>HESI</strong> <strong>A2</strong>?The <strong>Evolve</strong> <strong>Reach</strong> (<strong>HESI</strong>) <strong>Admission</strong> <strong>Assessment</strong> <strong>Exam</strong> (<strong>A2</strong>) is a computer based test consistingof several modules, used as an admissions exam into a nursing program.What sections do I need to take?Contact the <strong>Nursing</strong> Program you are applying <strong>for</strong>.If you are applying <strong>for</strong> a MCCCD <strong>Nursing</strong> Program you will have to take the following sections; Reading comprehension Grammar Vocabulary/General Knowledge MathWhat score do I need?Check with the <strong>Nursing</strong> Program you are applying <strong>for</strong>.MCCCD <strong>Nursing</strong> Programs require a minimum score of 75% in the Math, and an 85% in theEnglish Language Composite (average) which consists of Reading Comprehension, Grammarand Vocabulary/General Knowledge. The Science modules in Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy &Physiology, and Physics will NOT be administered.What is the time limit <strong>for</strong> the <strong>HESI</strong> <strong>A2</strong>?The <strong>HESI</strong> <strong>A2</strong> has a time limit of 4 hours. Please plan accordingly and arrive earlier. All testsmust be completed by the testing center closing time.I’m more com<strong>for</strong>table with a paper test. Do I have to take the <strong>HESI</strong> <strong>A2</strong> on computer?The <strong>Evolve</strong> <strong>Reach</strong> <strong>HESI</strong> <strong>A2</strong> exam is available only on computer. Students may retest after a 60-day waiting period. This allows time <strong>for</strong> remediation, which willbe available through your <strong>Evolve</strong> account. Up to 2 retests are permitted within one year from thedate of the first test. Scores are valid <strong>for</strong> two years at any MCCCD campus.I’ve taken the <strong>HESI</strong> <strong>A2</strong> test at another school. Can I use these scores?Scores from any school in the Maricopa County Community College District are accepted at allother MCCCD campuses and are accessible through the student in<strong>for</strong>mation system (SIS).Scores from a school outside the MCCCD system must be less than 2 years old and must be sentdirectly from that school to one of the MCCCD schools <strong>for</strong> input into SIS. Hand-carried resultswill not be accepted.How can I prepare <strong>for</strong> the <strong>HESI</strong> <strong>A2</strong>?A study guide is available <strong>for</strong> purchase in the bookstore or online at www.us.elsevierhealth.com.Online guides and sample questions can be found at www.nursingexamprepinfo.com as well as anumber of other sites. A simple online search will list several of these.How much does it cost?$37 (subject to change). Check in at the <strong>Assessment</strong>/Testing Center <strong>for</strong> eligibility verification.Cash, check, money order, credit or debit cards are accepted.If you are applying to a <strong>Nursing</strong> Program outside the Maricopa County Community CollegeDistrict, additional fees <strong>for</strong> proctoring an exam <strong>for</strong> another institution may apply.When will I get the results?Results will be available immediately, students will receive a printed score report uponcompletion of the exam. Scores will be posted in the Student In<strong>for</strong>mation System (SIS).
